Carta is hiring an Engineering Manager in San Francisco or Palo Alto to lead a team of talented Engineers to build products and services powered by Carta’s ownership graph: the central registry of asset ownership across the globe.

As an Engineering Manager for our Information Security team, you’ll play a foundational role on Carta’s fast-growing organization, helping to develop and refine the infrastructure of the one of the fastest growing technology companies today. This team defines and builds foundational components of our platform improve security and create leverage across our organization.

You’ll spend a quarter of your time recruiting and building the team, a quarter managing the Engineers that report to you, and the final half helping set priorities, shaping technical direction, and creating the velocity necessary to land complex deliverables on time, including coding work yourself. 

Applicants must have excellent people management skills, a strong technical background, be excited by “zero to one” projects, and enjoy working closely with cross-functional stakeholders. Prior experience in FinTech is not required: our team consists of very nice people who are happy to help you learn everything you need to be successful at Carta.

Responsibilities 

• Collect requirements, develop technical strategy, and build the foundation for Carta's products
• Uphold our engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter
• Recruit, retain, and scale a happy, healthy, productive team of top-notch Engineers

Qualifications

• 1+ years in a management role leading teams of 5+ engineers
• 5+ years Full stack or back-end engineering experience, with strong systems fundamentals
• Experience with service oriented architecture
• Strong industry experience in architecture and development of scalable production quality backend systems.
• Professional Python experience
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks/libraries like React or Angular.js
• Strong communication skills
• Comfortable regularly working in team environments
• Experience architecting complex SaaS products
• Experience working with business stakeholders to understand business requirements and build thoughtful solutions
