Swift Navigation is looking for an outstanding site reliability engineer to work on the core of our cloud corrections service. You will be our first SRE and lead efforts to ensure our large-scale highly-distributed cloud services are well-designed, scalable, fault-tolerant and highly reliable. You will be involved with the definition and implementation of the necessary technology and processes to operate a global service across multiple regions. The Cloud Engineering team at Swift Navigation takes the big picture on our service, combining excellent software and system engineering skills to provide optimal engineering solutions to complex problems. When operating a safety of life service, every second counts and you will be instrumental in building and shaping the necessary infrastructure to maintain a high performing service.

Swift Navigation is building the infrastructure that will enable large scale autonomous vehicle fleets to operate safely and seamlessly on a global scale and the cloud engineering team is central to that mission.

Our ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, great communication skills, and a desire to do what's right for our developer teams and customers.

 

What you’ll do

  • You will lead the SRE effort for Swift Navigation, and mentor to the development teams to follow SRE best practices

  • You will work with development teams to develop production-readiness standards, incident response and postmortem processes, and everything else to make Swift’s services reliable and scalable

  • You will participate in a globally distributed team of cloud engineers that works on the core of our cloud corrections service

  • You will implement and automate systems to enable a reliable and scalable cloud platform

 

Key Technologies

You should have a good understanding of current cloud technologies and experience with operating a cloud-based service.

We use AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Python, Golang, C++, Terraform, Prometheus/Grafana.

 

What we expect

  • Experience managing complex services in a public cloud environment

  • Command of programming/scripting languages, and the ability to create, debug, and optimize code and automate tasks

  • Strong sense of ownership and a desire to enable our engineering team to create and deploy services efficiently

  • Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting customer-facing production service outages

  • Solid understanding of Linux systems and networking

  • Experience with monitoring, incident response, postmortem, change management and other aspects of running a reliable cloud-based system
