As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work with system architects and members of platform/system and other cross-functional team to conceive of the micro-architecture, and help with architecture/product definition through the product life-cycle.

Minimum qualifications

  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing products/systems (pizza-box to multi-slot chassis with back/mid-planes) for Data Center, Communications fields
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
  • Prior experience in design, test and delivering systems from inception to production
  • Good knowledge/experience of delivering high quality designs for high-power ASIC packages, heatsink mounting, ILMs, and other components in densely populated PCB designs/systems 
  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field
  • BS with 15+ years or MS with 12+ years experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems 
  • Familiarity/experience in working and analyzing thermal simulation results 
  • Excellent technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products in collaboration with cross-functional team members
  • Develop test processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
  • Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
  • Work through Design For Manufacturing (DFM) aspects with vendors, contractors & internal team members
  • Participate and provide recommendations for mechanical design specifications and standards with respect to product design, manufacturing and various regulatory agency requirements to figure out design trade-offs necessary to meet design goals
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
  • Deliver high quality mechanical design within schedules & low cost
  • Work on system/platform bring-up, test/debug and successful release to production
