About Opendoor:
Are you intrigued by the thought of disrupting a trillion dollar industry through technology? At Opendoor, we’re on a mission to make it simple to buy and sell homes. The traditional process is broken, with an average home taking over 90 days to sell and costing thousands of dollars. We empower everyone with the freedom to move by making buying and selling a home stress-free and instant. We’ve built an exceptional team, seen strong growth, served over 85,000 customers and recently went public! The coming years present a tremendous opportunity for innovation as we explore new frontiers and scale nationwide.
About the Role:
You’ll work closely with our world-class product, design, and engineering teams to ensure high quality of all releases for our end users. You'll manually verify that new features work as expected, don't alter existing functionality unexpectedly, work across devices and on supported browsers, and find edge cases we haven't identified yet. Engineers today write their own automation, so although automation experience is not a job requirement, you’ll contribute to developing a scalable testing process by working with automated test output and suggesting areas where automation could improve efficiency and decrease manual effort.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Create, update, prune and execute manual QA test cases, identifying and recording defects, bugs, and errors.
- Work with product managers and developers to identify and improve product features and support the team in implementing those changes.
- Work together with other Quality Assurance Engineers for testing and development of site functionality, ensuring high quality, including usability, throughout production.
We're looking for teammates who have:
- Ability to create comprehensive test plans and test cases, define testing strategies, locating and solving difficult bugs and errors. Previous experience writing and executing test cases.
- Experience testing both desktop and mobile web, across multiple browsers, platforms, and screen sizes. Day to day, you will be working primarily on the web with opendoor.com.
- Excellent communication skills—you must be able to document issues precisely and write clear steps to reproduce.
- Meticulous attention to visual detail and user experience friction—many of the bugs we’re looking for are subtle visual imperfections or flow problems that affect user experience.
- Champion of best practices in QA. High degree of ownership and team accountability.
- Work experience interfacing with staging environments and sourcing test data where necessary
- Good references from past colleagues.
Bonus Points:
- Experience interpreting output of automated tests and working with CI/CD.
- You’ll also sometimes work with test builds of the Opendoor mobile app on iOS and Android devices, so experience with on-device testing is a plus.
