Quizlet’s mission is to help students (and their teachers) practice and master whatever they are learning. Every month more than 50 million active learners from 130 countries practice and master more than 300 million study sets on every conceivable topic and subject. We are developing new learning experiences by modeling how students learn and drawing upon knowledge acquisition, retention, and pedagogy in cognitive science. We are always seeking to help students master any subject by optimizing study efficiency and engagement.

Team Discover is one of the Quizlet Product Engineering growth teams focused on user engagement. Our mission is to empower learners to master any topic, anytime, anywhere with Quizlet. We’re researching better ways to study and master the content in Quizlet, and looking for ways to improve our study modes like Flashcards and Quizlet Live.

What you'll do

Quizlet’s Android app is already one of the top education apps in the Google Play store and has been consistently averaging a 4.7+ star rating over the past year. Android is our fastest growing platform with a huge opportunity in the international markets.

You must be excited by tackling the unique challenges of handling and presenting user-generated content on a large scale. In addition, you should be able to apply knowledge of how users interact with Quizlet to build intuitive features that will be delightful to use and directly increase Quizlet’s impact on education.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ or more years of experience building Android mobile applications
  • Experience leading cross-platform projects
  • Proficiency with Java and Kotlin
  • Enjoy collaborating in a cross-platform and cross-disciplinary team
  • Experience with CS fundamentals, software design patterns, and data structures
  • Experience writing unit tests and testable code
  • Experience building native high-quality apps, ideally published on Google Play
  • Experience using popular Android libraries for developing network, database, and UI layers
  • Excitement about the impact your work could have on the lives of students and teachers every day

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring others
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Experience advocating architecture improvements to multi-disciplinary stakeholders
  • Experience writing automated unit and integration tests using JUnit, Espresso, Robolectric
  • Experience with continuous integration systems like CircleCI or Jenkins
  • Proficiency with RxJava, Dependency Injection, Retrofit, MVVM, OrmLite/Room

  • Next Study Actions: helps learners continue their learning journey
  • Flashcards Swipe mode: helps learners decide what they want to review
