As a member of our embedded platform team that is an expert in cellular technology, you will focus on shaping the architecture of the next-generation cellular products. You will use your strong communication skills to communicate with third-party vendors, product management, and cross-functional engineer teams to drive high-quality products to our end customers that have high expectations. You will identify and eliminate technical debt and code smells, allowing our bring-up engineers to quickly release our newest platforms to customers. With millions of people using Meraki products around the world, your work will have a significant impact from the day it is deployed.

A Senior Cellular Platform Engineer will:

  • Design and architect Meraki next-generation cellular products.
  • Thorough understanding of integrating various cellular modems in embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of working on QMI and AT command infrastructure.
  • Should understand the sub-6 , mmWave high and LTE-high-cat as well as low-cat deployment. 
  • Should be capable of innovating and continuously adding LTE features such as firmware switch, multi-pdn, LTE QOS.
  • Should understand NAS and RRC level in-depth and translate that into Meraki features as a differentiator in offering. 
  • Hands on experience in developing LTE control path and data path.
  • Innovators with prior patents or innovation in the LTE or cellular side are big plus.
  • Communicate Meraki cellular requirements with third-party vendors as well as product management.
  • Communicate with customers for requirements to deliver a minimum viable product.
  • Mentor and share your expertise in cellular technology.
  • Scope, design, and implement tools for improving the serviceability of Meraki platforms.
  • Integrate vendor board support packages and software development kits.
  • Port, debug, and characterize Linux device drivers.
  • Collaborate with other Platform Engineers across product teams to continually improve our firmware design, development, and deployment practices.

What we look for in your background:

  • Must have a strong understanding of Cellular and wireless technologies.
  • Have an experiences working with more than one cellular vendor products.
  • Shown history of delivering high-quality cellular products.
  • Have 5+ years of professional experience programming in C or C++.
  • Have strong systems and networking foundational knowledge (systems architecture, memory hierarchy, storage subsystems, LANs, routing).
  • Must have expertise in embedded systems development concepts, including cross-platform development and build tools (GNU toolchain, OpenWRT, buildroot, Yocto), bootloaders (U-Boot, coreboot, UEFI), kernel configuration, device drivers, device trees.
  • Are comfortable using network protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, hardware debuggers, and source-level debuggers to tackle problems at all layers of the stack.
  • Have experience reading schematics and datasheets.

Bonus points for:

  • Upstreaming Linux patches.
  • Experience with Ethernet switch chips, crypto acceleration, or hardware offload engines.
  • Knowledge of web technologies: databases, high-level languages (Ruby, JavaScript), frameworks (Rails, React), and architectural patterns.
