The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be focused on developing the enclosures that enable our AV modules to pass the rigorous environmental, electrical, and safety demands of our commercial fleets. These modules include but are not limited to; telematics, audio and video streaming, and high performance sensors.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop the module enclosures that house printed circuit boards (rigid and flex), cable assemblies, and off-the-shelf modules
- Define the material selection and process considering thermal, weight, vibration, and EMC requirements as well as cost; die-cast, injection molding, extrusion, stamping, etc.
- Maintain top level assembly and BOM in SolidWorks PDM and TeamCenter PLM
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to address DFx; materials/process selection, and assembly steps or specializations (thermal interfaces, glue or gasket applications, etc)
- Collaborate with the thermal analysis team to ensure enclosure design, thermal interface materials, and thermal control strategy
- Create 2D drawings applying GD&T to support fabrication and assembly
- Partner with suppliers from quick-turn first prototypes to cost optimized 10k+ production
- Collaborate with reliability and vehicle teams to ensure compliance with functional, interface, and environmental requirements
- Support documentation of requirements, DFMEAs and assembly instructions
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 7yrs+ experience in electronic product development
- 3yrs+ experience in a safety-critical industry; automotive, aerospace, industrial, medical
- Expertise with SolidWorks and PDM
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) packages
