The Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for the Content Engineering Team who has a real passion for solving complex and interesting problems. We own the website and build tools for content creation and localization. We also run A/B tests to help grow our business by increasing paid conversions and retaining paying customers.

Responsibilities

  • Help grow SurveyMonkey's business by optimizing funnels, virality loops, and international growth
  • Top-to-bottom ownership of Growth projects, including crafting technical specs, writing readable and extensible code, and keeping tabs on post-release metrics
  • Evangelize experimentation throughout our product and engineering organization
  • Own technical aspects of software architecture and development
  • Work closely with product owners on feature sets that impact platform, services, and frameworks
  • Perform design and development of modular packages, components, and frameworks
  • Write code and unit tests, work on API specs, automation, and conduct code reviews and testing
  • Be a key player and mentor to a team of highly talented software engineers

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of professional programming experience pushing production quality code
  • Culture of code reviews, writing tech specs, and collaborating closely with other people (not a solo hacker)
  • Expertise in translating designs into mobile first, performant front-end experiences
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of Node.js, JavaScript and modern JavaScript technologies like React or Vue.js
  • Experience with build tools like WebPack, Grunt or Rollup
  • Experience with Python web frameworks, like Pylons/Pyramid or Django; or for other languages, like Ruby on Rails or PHP
  • Experience with performance enhancement and caching methods / technologies such as Memcache, Redis, Varnish, object and fragment caching

Nice to Haves

  • Experience working with headless content management systems
  • Deep understanding of tie-ins with other systems and platforms
  • Experience provisioning, deploying and maintaining large corporate multi-environment applications
  • Built and operated large web applications running at scale
  • Agile, test-driven development, continuous builds, and frequent deployments

At SurveyMonkey, we offer competitive salaries, medical/dental benefits, PTO, 401k, paid holidays and parental leave, and equity compensation.

SurveyMonkey is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
