Virta is the first company with a clinically-proven treatment to safely and sustainably reverse type 2 diabetes and other chronic metabolic diseases without the use of medications or surgery. As a developer experience engineer, you’ll help us on our mission by building  tools and processes that empower engineers at Virta to deliver quickly and efficiently. You’ll work with engineers across the organization to remove friction and increase leverage across the entire software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain tools that enable rapid software development of our services and applications.
• Iterate and improve upon our existing build, test, and deploy pipelines
• Own our developer experience by working with a variety of teams to identify and resolve areas of developer friction
• Mentor, train, and write documentation for other developers at Virta

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

• Learn the ins and outs of our existing development practices and suggest ways we can improve
• Setup remote development environments in Google Cloud Platform using Docker, Kubernetes, and Tilt
• Create tools to help developers debug and test their applications
• Improve the build, test, and deploy pipelines of our Python, Go, and Typescript codebases
• Set a roadmap and vision for the future of the developer experience at Virta

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience as a software engineer
• Experience with at least one of our core programming languages - Python and TypeScript -  and its greater ecosystem
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience building platforms and tools for developers
• Experience defining and analyzing application and system metrics
• Preferred but not required: Experience with Bazel, Buck, or similar modern build systems
