As the Assistant Controller at CircleCI, you will lead the GL Accounting team and maintain a focus on process and systematic scalability. You’ll oversee the accounting operations, including the global consolidations, AP, payroll, stock administration, tax, treasury, and insurance. CircleCI is fortunate to be in a growth stage, so in addition to the day to day operations, you will work within and across departments to implement systems, improve processes and expand existing policies. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment while still maintaining a close attention to detail.

What you'll do: 

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting team to produce timely and accurate financial information for internal and external reporting purposes
  • Lead the general ledger activities, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations for both domestic and international organizations
  • Responsible for overall global consolidation, including subsidiary reporting package review, intercompany settlement compliance and foreign currency remeasurement/translation
  • Oversee the month-end financial statement analysis and flux commentaries
  • Provide support and training for team members and assist in establishing quarterly goals and objectives 
  • Develop and execute a roadmap for implementing/improving processes and controls to scale the accounting function and safeguard assets
  • Establish operational metrics and cadence for reporting
  • Develop strategy for future system implementations and enhancements/upgrades
  • Oversee audit processes and proactively communicate with auditors on accounting for complex transactions
  • Ensure domestic and international compliance for the global group 
  • Support Controller with special projects and workflow/automation process improvements.

What we're looking for: 

  • At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum 3 years management experience 
  • Combined private company and public accounting background (Big 4 preferable) 
  • Very strong understanding of US GAAP and displayed proficiency in accounting operations
  • Experience working with multinational entities and the related transfer pricing and international tax requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to effectively interpret data and create meaningful and understandable reports and metrics
  • Desire to roll-up your sleeves, prioritize work, execute plans and drive deliverables
  • Proven track record in designing and managing a team
  • NetSuite experience highly preferred
  • Prior IPO experience a plus 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; CPA preferred
