Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be playing a pivotal role on a small and close-knit Finance team. You will provide support to the Finance team in the areas of payroll and accounts payable, with a heavy focus on inventory and other fixed assets. The ideal candidate will be conscientious and discrete while showing a meticulous attention to detail.

What you'll do

  • Oversee timely and accurately processing of payroll in compliance with the company’s policies and with federal, state and local tax regulations
  • Ensure all regulatory payroll filings are completed timely and accurately
  • Coordinate with the HR manager to stay current on regulations, benefits changes, and labor laws impacting the payroll process
  • Register our business with different state and federal agencies as needed, research state-specific tax requirements, and implement within our systems
  • Oversee accounts payable, and verify the accuracy of vendor payments
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of accounts payable against fixed assets records and diagnose variances
  • Generate and track monthly customer invoices and payments
  • Assist with annual audit and tax review
  • Generate procedures to streamline company efficiency, and create internal templates to be used by the company
  • Assist the finance team with special projects as necessary

Who you are

  • Earned a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent
  • Have 3+ years of experience in payroll, accounting, and bookkeeping
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (primarily Excel)
  • Knowledgeable of US GAAP
  • Able to adapt to change and learn quickly, work independently and cross-functionally, and prioritize work to achieve objectives and timelines
  • Well-organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proactive in finding discrepancies and their resolution
  • Strong communicator, with both written and verbal
  • Nice to have's

  • Accounting experience with Quickbooks
  • Experience with payroll software and expense reporting systems, such as Paylocity, Bill.com, and Airbase
  • Experience with an inventory management software such as Fishbowl
  • Experience managing a Payroll Team
