The role
Afterpay is looking for a dynamic, articulate and persuasive commercial attorney to support our business. The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, a competitive negotiator, have great judgment, and understand how to effectively provide legal advice in a fast-paced environment. Experience at a top law firm and in-house at a fintech company are preferred. An interest in our consumer-driven product and e-commerce is a must.
Key Responsibilities
-Evaluate and help design new products to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws
-Draft terms & conditions, policies, agreements and other consumer-facing legal document
-Negotiate partnership, technology and payments-focused agreements with clients, partners and vendors
-Advise on a broad range of laws, including those related to marketing and payments
Minimum Qualifications
-J.D. with a state bar membership in good standing
-3-6+ years of relevant experience (prior in-house experience preferred but not required)
-Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
-The ability to think “outside the box” and balance legal risk with business objectives
-Familiarity with financial services and payments regulation at the state and federal level
