Quantcast is hiring a Senior Network Engineer to work on the Network and Cloud Infrastructure team in our San Francisco office. At Quantcast, we see the real-time pulse of the open Internet and we use technology to help brands and publishers understand, reach and influence the constantly changing behaviors of consumers. We operate some of the largest custom-developed data processing infrastructure in the world, storing and processing tens of petabytes of data daily. 


In this role, you will manage our globally distributed and hybrid network infrastructure. You will leverage open-source tooling to run, design, and support systems. You will work with a very talented group of Network, Security, and Systems Engineers. You will also be exposed to the newest technologies for BGP Traffic Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance, operate, and maintain our production backbone network infrastructure
  • Lead the reporting, documentation and investigation of all Network security related incidents
  • Implement specific network solutions to support business requirements including: MPLS, L3VPN, load-balancing, VPN’s, Traffic Shaping, Voice over IP (VOIP), QoS, and IP Security
  • Maintain and monitor our corporate and cloud network infrastructure
  • Support and expand corporate network services, including upkeep and configuration of remote offices, ISP circuits, site-to-sites VPN tunnels, and OSPF/BGP routing
  • Work with both corporate and customer leadership to research, analyze, and implement enterprise-wide network security solutions and enhancements to support company goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with engineering groups to provide insight into network performance, security, and reliability
  • Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through the design, analysis, and implementation of network performance monitoring tools and technologies
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Research complex network problems, operate network analyzers, perform packet captures, and provide resolution in a timely manner
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Scripting skills primarily in Bash/Shell and Python
  • Good interpersonal skills and customer service
  • Ability to work independently with minor supervision
  • Experience in hybrid Network infrastructures
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree (We recognize that knowledge and skills equivalent to those earned in a degree program can also be achieved via nontraditional paths, and welcomes applicants with nontraditional training.)

Bonus Points:

  • Extensive knowledge with Network routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and IS-IS
  • LAN, WAN, and MAN switching and routing experience, including: DNS and Global Load Balancing
  • Automation of cloud deployments experience
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Networking background with JUNOS

The model gives employees the opportunity to work from home two days a week and work in the office for team collaboration three days a week.
