If so, you may be a great fit for the Principal Product Designer, Shared Experiences position at Gusto.
In this first-of-its-kind role at Gusto, you’ll be joining the Growth mission to focus on creating simple and scalable solutions for our product’s main dashboard experience, and will develop an in-app customer communications framework strategy to ensure our customers receive the right information at the right time. As the sole designer focused on the shared experiences across our app, you will work cross-functionally to ensure your solutions solve the problems for our varied customer base, as well as address needs of our many product teams and key business goals.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Develop a deep understanding of the different customers we serve, and a how their varying needs translate into product requirements
- Design simple, compelling, and scalable solutions for how to improve our product dashboard experience
- Create a communications framework strategy that simplifies the in-app experience for when and how we message customers, from critical messages to information on new product launches, features, or enhancements
- Propose and execute on user studies and experiments that will help validate and inform the effectiveness of your solutions
- Drive the creation of project plans and proposals, as well as frameworks and guidelines for our internal teams to use your new solutions
- Generate buy-in for your solutions through cultivating strong cross-functional relationships and soliciting feedback from key stakeholders
- Facilitate meetings, brainstorms, and reviews with key stakeholders and leaders
- Create artifacts that help visualize the user’s experience such as journey maps and service blueprints
- Mentor designers and cross-functional partners in how best to approach problems, moving quickly and driving high quality and impactful outcomes
- Cultivate a creative design process that is built on inclusion and strong cross-functional collaboration
- Use brand guidelines effectively to create experiences that build our brand and achieve business goals
Here’s what we're looking for:
- Someone with an extensive track record of shipping complex, high-profile, and high stakes projects
- A systems thinker who can easily recognize patterns to develop frameworks and solutions to solve the complex needs of the many customers we serve
- Skilled UI designer with the ability to combine typography, layout, color, and modern user interaction patterns into strong visual communication
- Evidence of strategic thinking across the entire customer journey, and spanning multiple channels
- A compelling cross-functional driver, facilitator, influencer, storyteller, and presenter
- Ability to expertly manage and thrive in ambiguity
- Skilled in using quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate designs and develop a deep understanding of target audiences and user behavior
- Evidence of taking large, complex projects and breaking them down to ship small, iterate, and learn
- Experience creating detailed project plans and proposals
- Service design experience and/or understanding of how use service design techniques to maximize cross-functional customer and business impact
- Ability to work at different altitudes; strategic visualizations in support of long-term design goals to detailed user flows and design specs
