At Standard Cognition, we’re rethinking the way retail works. We are enabling autonomous checkout for brick & mortar retailers with our AI-powered computer vision platform. Since launching in November 2017, Standard now has contracts with multiple global retailers and is in the process of deploying our Standard Checkout solution across thousands of stores globally. As a Product Manager at Standard Cognition you are at the crossroads of engineering, design, research, and business ensuring Standard’s development of autonomous checkout technology and introducing it to shoppers worldwide.

You will work closely with our Product, Research, and Engineering teams to help define experiments and a product roadmap how we should autonomously track people, recognize actions, and identify items to build Standard Checkout. You will get to influence our approach to how we build a shopper’s cart and will sit right in the sweet spot of productizing research. You will help us unlock new market segments and store format types for Standard Checkout by understanding the real-world nuances in shopping at brick and mortar retail stores.

This is a full time role located onsite at our San Francisco office. 

What you'll do here:

  • Help refine Standard Cognition’s product vision and strategy
  • Drive the roadmap for our core vision platform, taking into account real world performance of our system
  • Develop a deep understanding of Standard Cognition’s customer and end-users’ goals, and help formulate core-vision research path to solve for them
  • Analyze autonomous checkout trade-offs based on data and user insights and use this to help define and run machine learning experiments
  • Analyze data from real-world stores, define core vision platform requirements and help the team make the right trade-offs between capability, cost, engineering complexity and other factors
  • Work with engineering and other stakeholders to drive highly-technical product features to completion

Who you are:

  • Fluent in machine learning and computer vision concepts to capture deeply technical requirements, and ability to translate them for non-technical audiences.
  • 3+ years of product management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Good at problem stating and problem solving, and turning ambiguous problem spaces into radical solutions
  • Flourish in ambiguity, setting own goals and effectively delivering to them in a very fast-changing environment
  • Experience working on applied machine learning, robot sensing or autonomous vehicles is a plus
