Senior Director, Privacy and Product (Multiple Locations)

Evidation is looking for an exceptionally talented attorney to join our legal team and build a world-class privacy and product counseling function. Reporting to the Vice President of Legal, the Senior Director of Privacy and Product will be responsible for managing Evidation’s privacy legal and compliance work, as well as supporting our Engineering, Product, and Commercial teams as they develop and sell products underpinning our mission. This is a wonderful opportunity to lead and grow a critical function within a high-growth company. As a foundational member of the Evidation legal team, the Senior Director will also help develop the culture of the legal team by exemplifying decency, dedication, and a commitment to finding solutions to difficult questions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Counsel the Engineering, Product, and Commercial teams on a range of issues including data privacy, regulatory, and healthcare matters
- Lead Evidation’s compliance with and strategy around applicable data privacy and healthcare laws
- Conduct privacy assessments of business initiatives, support compliance certifications, and develop and maintain privacy policies and procedures
- Review and draft agreements related to data, privacy, and security, including vendor and customer agreements
- Work closely with the Regulatory and Clinical Research teams to support customer projects
- Develop systems and processes to get ahead of any potential issues or implications in products and policies before they are rolled out
- Conduct training, develop playbooks, and draft FAQS with respect to privacy and product matters
- Follow developments in global privacy and healthcare laws and update Evidation systems and processes as necessary to remain compliant with laws
- Oversee and mentor more junior team members working in the Privacy and Product function
QUALIFICATIONS
- JD from an accredited law school with legal license in good standing and active bar membership, preferably in California
- 8+ years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house at a technology or healthcare company, including 3+ years of people management experience
- Strong command of applicable privacy laws and regulations covering the healthcare industry, including the CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA
- Experience with applicable healthcare laws and regulations, and clinical research
- Demonstrated ability and confidence to build and lead a privacy and product function
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to roll up sleeves - no job too big or small
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally
