About the opportunity

As a Senior Product Designer for our Design Systems team, you will be responsible for building and driving thoughtful, intuitive design patterns across the Lattice suite. From this seat within our Platform team, you’ll collaborate with others to help scale our abilities across Lattice to build tools and insights that make work meaningful!

Your day-to-day will involve growing and evolving the standards, systems and elements of our existing design system, Trellis. You’ll deeply understand internal and external customer needs across our suite so that you can help teammates deliver cross-product experiences that are accessible, performant, intuitive, and that exceed customer expectations. You’ll take pride in your team’s execution and outcomes as you help set the bar for excellence, expressing great judgment in design decisions and holding a balance between form and function.

Your design systems expertise will not only help us build great systems, but will also inform the strategic direction of our Platform team. All said, you won’t be doing this work alone! You’ll work closely with your Research, Product, Content, Engineering and Data teammates, and other Platform peers and leadership, to help achieve and maintain a world-class Design System.

Responsibilities

  • Design detailed, scalable, effective components, patterns, systems, and guidelines that contribute to product interfaces. This includes planning, designing, prototyping, speccing, and QAing UX/UI details and interactions from conception to release.
  • Design and build prototypes to help illustrate and test your ideas, working with teammates to deeply understand and meet customer needs.
  • Working with pod partners and leadership, you’ll help inform, execute and drive the larger Design Systems strategy. You will help set standards and facilitate execution for Design System pieces within your pod and across the wider Lattice product teams.
  • Influence the contribution model and engagement with Design Systems patterns and practices across our wider EPD (Engineering, Product, Design) team. You will also help maintain pieces of the Design System in accordance with team best practices.
  • Lastly, you’ll evangelize platform design efforts within the company by pursuing effective results, sharing learnings, providing mentorship, educating, and leading other socialization practices.

Qualifications

  • You have 5+ years of professional work history designing experiences that empower the end user. At least two of those years should have been dedicated to a Design Systems team, ideally for a complex software project that spans multiple teams or services. You should have experience helping to plan and execute a Design Systems roadmap with pragmatic management of design debt.
  • You’re a great communicator and collaborator. Your written and verbal communications are clear, concise and accessible. You effectively organize and lead discussions/rituals that build relationships, facilitate better collaboration, and ultimately improve the product.
  • You are excited about Design Systems work, and eager to inspire our wider EPD (Engineering, Product, & Design) team with your knowledge and by leading through demonstration and a commitment to execution excellence.
  • You care about why you're building something, not just what, and how your decisions impact customer experiences across a suite of connected services. You consider the technical, product, customer, and business needs of the company with each decision and work cross-functionally to proactively identify opportunities to improve the utility, usability, and desirability of business-critical experiences.
  • You invest in the visual and interaction portion of your work and consider yourself a craftsperson, with constant attention to self-improvement and deepening of your craft. We expect proficiency in Figma, visual design patterns, and UX best practices.
  • You have familiarity with accessibility and internationalization best practices and guidelines (e.g. WCAG), as well as experience applying them.
