As a Senior Technical Product Manager - Episode you’ll work on a game that has defined interactive storytelling for a female audience, with a mission to build YOU-driven experiences where authors can create immersive stories and players can be who they want to be. You’ll own and manage critical aspects of the Episode product which will be seen by millions of people around the world. 

What We’ve Accomplished:

  • Developed and launched Episode, creating a brand new “interactive story” category in mobile games that has garnered over 350 million downloads over the past decade.
  • Turned Episode into a user-generated content platform, allowing user creators to publish over 160,000 interactive stories for our players.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead cross-functional teams consistently improving Episode and, over time, other live games. 
  • Use your knowledge of best in class live operations to prioritize backlogs, taking both operational and business considerations into account, and delivering regular game updates.
  • Iterate on and develop hypotheses for improving player journeys and individual features based on data analysis, player surveys, and player interviews.
  • Use your quantitative analysis skills to refine hypotheses and models by digging into game data and iteratively improving production and business metrics.
  • Drive standards for best in class operations with clear goals, efficient firefighting approaches, and strong development and releases processes.
  • Work in an environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction.

What You Bring to the Product Management Team:

  • 6+ years of games or entertainment industry experience as a technical product manager, including time spent operating live games. 
  • Up to date with current trends in free-to-play mobile games and understand the pros and cons of the decisions that different games make.
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills and ability to refine hypotheses/models by digging into player data and iteratively improving metrics.
  • Deep technical understanding to be a strong thought partner to engineers.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and production schedules.
  • Extensive experience in SCRUM and Agile project management disciplines.
  • Ability to write clear and concise specs.

  • B.S. / M.S.in a quantitative/technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Economics, Data Science, etc.).
  • Being a fan of Episode and our community. 
  • Enjoy light hearted, romantic, playful, and sweet stories. RomComs or YA novels are your go-to for comfort.
  • Specific experience in any of the following:
    • Interactive story games
    • Startup experience 
    • Engineering/software development
    • A/B testing

The range provided below is Pocket Gems’ reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. In addition, this position is eligible for annual performance bonuses and equity.
