Location/Division: South San Francisco, CA Genetic Sciences Division

As a Senior Manager, System Design you are key to providing direction and focus to drive division objectives relative to defining and developing instrument and consumable products in the Genetic Sciences Division. You will build, lead and develop a team that defines system aspects of product development alongside highly technical and specialized engineering professionals and scientists to develop hardware platforms used in research and clinical applications.
What will you do?
- Develop and mentor individual contributors to operate through the entire product process from incubation, development, and sustaining to achieve an industry leading scale and cost position
- Partner with our Product Management teams to define customer system architecture and integration design, development, feasibility testing
- Partner with the Operations team to improve our current manufacturing processes and scale
- Understand customers and effectively and be passionate about representing their needs in product requirements
- Develop teams that partner with multi-functional owners to ensure robust process of the design and development of integrated systems from beginning to end of the molecular biology workflows including effective stage gate design reviews, d/pFMEA processes, and design documentation
How will you get here:
Education
BS/MS/Ph.D. degree in a technical Engineering field or Applied Physics
Experience
- 5 years' proven experience in system engineering role leading hardware platforms
- Demonstrated ability to develop talent in an R&D product development or sustaining role
- Considerable experience in developing high complexity integrated life sciences or clinical instrumentation, consumables, and software
- Expertise in systems engineering processes, from requirements gathering and risk analysis to statistical power in validation
- Proven to build phenomenal teams with great culture and is able to attract, engage, and retain top talent
- A solid understanding of a range of analytical instrumentation (capillary electrophoresis, chromatography, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry)D
- Technical expertise in fluidics/microfluidics, optical detection, chemistry, electrokinetics, pneumatics
- Proven experience working across multi-disciplined teams / cross - functional teams -scientists, engineers and software personnel. Shown success at networking across the company

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $163,100.00-$244,625.00.
