Job Description
Do you have the skills to land and develop the story of one of the most fascinating SaaS companies, with financial press and other business stakeholders? Are you equally at home creating and evolving financial comms strategy, as diving deep into the numbers to identify new angles that tell our business story and generate media coverage?
The Sr. Manager of Financial Communications will be a key member of the Corporate Communications team in Marketing, reporting to the VP of Communications, and will work closely with the President, CFO and Investor Relations. The Sr. Manager will be primarily skilled at using creative, integrated business and financial communications strategies to promote and protect Freshworks' narrative to Wall Street using quarterly earnings, Investor Day and more. The person in this role will also be responsible for developing communications strategies in support of our ESG initiatives, and manage critical issues.
The candidate should be a proactive, creative problem-solver with an affinity for details and media handling skills. A background in financial communications, proven experience deploying digital communications in support of financial narratives and strong executive management skills is necessary. In addition, a strong work ethic and collaborative leadership is ideal. This is an in-office role, 3 days a week in San Mateo, CA or Bellevue, WA.
Responsibilities:
- Develops consistent, company-wide messaging about the company's financial performance with the IR team that can be understood internally and externally.
- Executes an integrated, multi-channel communications strategy to elevate the company's financial profile among press, trade groups, think tanks and other stakeholders that promotes and protects Freshworks' mission, vision, values, industry leadership and market performance.
- Leads key communications aspects of the quarterly results cycle, including writing the CEO and President earnings scripts, preparing and supporting the development of appropriate news releases for distribution across channels, developing executive-level briefing documents containing key messages and Q&As.
- Identifies, develops, and supports unique storylines, content, keynotes and thought-leadership opportunities relative to Freshworks' financial and business achievements that advance the company's corporate achievements, M&A and ESG initiatives.
- Establishes and maintains high-touch relationships with key business, tech and trade media and seeks out opportunities to re-direct, shape and land narratives that are supportive of Freshworks corporate comms goals; also manages reactive inquiries.
- Stays informed on industry news and flags issues and trends for leaders in a timely manner.
- Reports out the impact of financial communications on at least a quarterly basis, contributing to a broader awareness and perception report about Freshworks.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 10-15+ years of experience in corporate and/or financial communications or investor relations in the tech industry
- Public company experience with a strong understanding of corporate financial reporting concepts and terminology
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field is required
- Impeccable media handling skills and experience
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritize, ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Additional Information
California Pay Range: $164,000-266,500+ comprising an annual salary & incentive compensation: You may also be eligible for equity and additional generous company benefits.
