When most companies are looking to improve their operations, they hire a consulting firm to manually document processes and determine best practices. Although this method works, it can be quite time consuming. Fortunately, San Francisco-based company Scribe arrived on the scene in 2019 with a platform to take care of all of that heavy lifting.

“I’ve been obsessed with processes and efficiency for pretty much my whole life,” Jennifer Smith, co-founder and CEO of Scribe, said in a statement. “I’m always trying to see if there’s a better, faster way to do something.”

The company announced Monday that it’s receiving some fresh capital to boost its mission forward as it continues to scale. All told, Scribe raised $30 million in a round that includes $22 million in Series A financing led by Tiger Global Management.

To get started on Scribe, users just need to hit “record” prior to any meeting, phone call or training session. The platform takes note of all that’s said and creates a text description for each step of a given process. After that, Scribe generates a link that can be shared with teammates and customers. If anyone has suggested edits, text descriptions can be updated at any time.

The company’s software isn’t just limited to audio though, Scribe can also take note of manual processes by recording mouse movement and clicks.

“We believe everyone is an expert. Whether you’ve mastered a process, discovered a cool workaround, or found a faster way, you know how to do something no one else does,” Smith continued. “That know-how deserves to be shared and celebrated.”

Scribe is used by over 10,000 organizations globally, including tech giants like Facebook, Tesla and Salesforce. The platform’s use isn’t just limited to those working corporate jobs, it’s also put to work across local governments and schools.

“We imagine a world where the best of what anyone knows how to do is available to everyone. Instantly and automatically,” Smith continued. “So every person, company and community can do their best work, every day, with a little more ease and joy.”

Scribe plans to invest in the ongoing development of its platform as it continues to grow. Of course part of that includes increasing its headcount. The 20-person company is on the lookout for a dozen fresh faces to join its engineering, product and marketing teams, to name a few.

Additional investors Amplify Partners, Haystack Ventures and XYZ Venture Capital participated in the round, among others.
