AKASA, a company that builds custom AI models for healthcare revenue cycle workflows, announced the launch of its latest solution. The company released an autonomous AI platform for the mid-cycle. This offering expands AKASA’s use beyond AI-powered pre-bill review to autonomy for inpatient medical coding and clinical documentation integrity.

AKASA’s platform helps health systems expand workforce capacity, accelerate billing and improve quality performance. Its solutions fully code highly complex inpatient cases across specialties without human intervention. The mid-cycle is where a patient’s clinical record is translated from documentation into codes for reimbursement, quality reporting, risk adjustment and patient record integrity, according to the company.

“The incredible demand for healthcare is finally being addressed by advancements in AI. Multiple parts of the healthcare ecosystem will need to scale up, with documentation and coding being critical components,” Malinka Walaliyadde, AKASA’s CEO and co-founder, said in a statement. “For years, an autonomous mid-cycle has been a holy grail in our industry. Today, AKASA is making it real.”
