Work includes trading dashboards, product features, and end-to-end user experiences across frontend and backend platforms.

Own the architecture and long-term direction of Alpaca’s Redpanda-based event streaming platform. Lead migration to event-driven systems, design scalable real-time client streaming, establish schema and library standards, shape authentication for streaming, partner on resilience and testing, mentor engineers, influence cross-team technical decisions, and participate in platform on-call. The role primarily uses Go and involves Kubernetes, Helm, PostgreSQL, observability, and distributed systems.

Build and own automated testing frameworks, CI/CD infrastructure, load and stress testing, and chaos engineering practices for a brokerage platform. Write primarily Go, integrate AI and LLM tooling into quality workflows, investigate application and Kubernetes failures, improve developer tooling, and mentor engineers on reliability and test coverage.

Build and architect Alpaca’s algorithmic trading platform, developing high-performance, low-latency brokerage systems. Responsibilities include extensive frontend and backend coding, distributed system design, database and concurrency architecture, high availability, throughput optimization, and object-oriented modeling. The role requires prior experience with trading or exchange systems, including OMS and RMS platforms, and involves making critical technical decisions in a demanding early-stage environment.

Build and maintain Alpaca Connect developer-platform experiences using TypeScript, React, and Go. Improve onboarding, app management, compliance review, publishing, consent, and permissions workflows. Design APIs and integrations with identity, account, trading, and market-data systems while creating secure, auditable self-service tools. Own features from design through production and collaborate with Product, Design, Compliance, Support, Partnerships, and Platform teams.

Own client money movement across ACH, wires, RTP, checks, and journals. Review and approve transactions, process releases, reconcile cash activity, resolve exceptions, maintain operational reports and documentation, and strengthen controls. Partner with custodians, banks, Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology to manage risk and improve processes. Support audits, train team members, and handle complex or high-risk transactions independently.

Build and scale global payments and treasury systems using resilient, event-driven microservices. Design client-facing APIs, distributed systems, financial ledgers, and payment integrations while ensuring scalability, reliability, and system integrity. Collaborate independently and cross-functionally to define and implement solutions, troubleshoot issues, and maintain clean, tested code. Work with cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, messaging systems, relational databases, payment rails, reconciliation, and double-entry accounting.

Architect, develop, and maintain full-stack frontend applications and backend services for Alpaca’s internal trading tools. Build user-facing features, design APIs, work with financial-market infrastructure, own projects from design through deployment, collaborate cross-functionally, and mentor engineers. The role requires strong systems programming, TypeScript/React, SQL, relational database, REST API, WebSocket, and cloud-platform expertise.

Build and scale backend identity platform services for global user onboarding, identity verification, risk management, and trading accounts. Design reliable microservices and architectures, contribute to technical decisions, maintain code quality and test coverage, troubleshoot incidents, collaborate across teams, and potentially participate in on-call support.

Own Alpaca’s regulated crypto product surface, including spot trading, stablecoin funding, custody and liquidity integrations, staking, lending, crypto APIs, and perpetual futures. Partner with engineering, compliance, legal, operations, and external customers to define and execute the roadmap. Evaluate market structure, regulatory developments, partner needs, technical feasibility, and business impact while delivering developer-focused infrastructure at scale.

Owns execution of the enterprise risk management program for a regulated financial services company. Responsibilities include managing risk intake, maintaining risk registers in Vanta, validating residual scores, tracking mitigation plans, defining KRIs, coordinating cross-functional risk leads, identifying emerging risks, and preparing executive and board reporting. The role also supports ERM governance workflows, local entity risk updates, escalation processes, and risk-management playbooks.

Support due diligence and third-party risk reviews for fintech and financial institution partners. Responsibilities include evaluating documentation, conducting KYC, KYB, AML, and enhanced due diligence reviews, tracking onboarding requirements, communicating with partners, identifying risk indicators, maintaining records, and coordinating with Compliance, Legal, Operations, Product, and Project Management teams to ensure integrations meet regulatory and internal standards.

Build and operate Alpaca’s liquidity risk infrastructure, including daily and intraday liquidity reporting, data pipelines, monitoring, alerting, controls, and stress testing. Develop deterministic and Monte Carlo liquidity models, support SEC and FINRA reporting, assess funding and settlement risks, and provide analysis for Treasury, Risk, regulatory, and management stakeholders. Partner cross-functionally on new products, margin systems, governance, and risk controls.

Own Alpaca’s market data product strategy and revenue growth. Define sourcing, licensing, entitlements, pricing, packaging, build-versus-buy decisions, API capabilities, developer experience, and partner priorities. Lead exchange and vendor negotiations, assess competitive positioning, and deliver real-time, delayed, historical, and derived market data products across asset classes and geographies.

Own Alpaca’s growth data strategy across acquisition, activation, retention, referral, and monetization. Build experimentation frameworks, causal and incrementality analyses, funnel and cohort models, LTV/CAC and churn forecasts, marketing measurement, governed growth metrics, and self-serve analytics. Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Finance to influence strategy and roadmaps, communicate insights to leadership, mentor data professionals, and establish standards for growth analytics.
