Partner with engineering, operations, risk, compliance, regulators, exchanges, clearing organizations, and institutional clients to launch and scale the firm’s regulated FCM. Define requirements, evaluate build-versus-buy decisions, improve margin, clearing, settlement, and trading-risk workflows, and ensure CFTC/NFA compliance across the derivatives platform.

Build and architect Alpaca’s high-performance algorithmic trading platform. Responsibilities include writing backend and frontend code, designing distributed and highly available systems, optimizing low-latency and high-throughput performance, and developing scalable databases, messaging systems, concurrency controls, and service-oriented architectures. The role also involves making critical platform decisions and potentially contributing to order and risk management, trading systems, observability, cloud infrastructure, and financial ledger capabilities.

Leads Alpaca’s global tax function, overseeing tax strategy, compliance, reporting, planning, ASC 740 tax provisions, transfer pricing, indirect taxes, and international tax matters. Partners with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Product, and business leaders on transactions, expansion, and regulated financial-services activities. Manages advisors, audits, tax authorities, controls, forecasting, M&A tax diligence, and public-company readiness while building scalable internal tax capabilities.

Own content strategy and go-to-market storytelling for Alpaca’s crypto and tokenization products. Create educational content, launch posts, explainers, newsletters, and thought leadership for B2B and B2C audiences. Develop messaging for issuers, exchanges, market makers, and institutional partners while translating complex product concepts into clear narratives. Collaborate with product, compliance, design, and marketing teams on launches, partner announcements, SEO, content distribution, and adoption initiatives.

Own global total rewards programs, including compensation, job architecture, market pricing, pay cycles, benefits coordination, pay equity, and compensation systems. Partner with Recruiting on leveling and offers, and with Finance on headcount planning, budgeting, scenario modeling, and M&A analysis. Lead analytical People projects, build scalable processes, maintain accurate workforce data, and provide clear recommendations to leaders across a distributed international workforce.

Own Alpaca’s internal infrastructure and developer platform as a product. Define platform maturity, manage intake and backlogs, establish multi-quarter roadmaps, improve CI/CD adoption, reduce maintenance windows, drive cost attribution and efficiency, and enable globally portable infrastructure. Partner with engineering, DevOps, Platform, and Finance teams to create self-service golden paths, anticipate dependencies, and support reliable deployment across regulated, market-hours-sensitive environments.

Serves as the technical expert for enterprise partners, supporting customer relationships, pre-sales engagements, API integrations, onboarding, solution design, demos, RFPs, security questionnaires, and technical sales. Translates customer and regulatory requirements into product specifications, collaborates with Product and Engineering, coordinates with local partners and regulators, creates documentation, and supports adoption of Alpaca’s brokerage platform. Requires strong API integration expertise, enterprise customer experience, and Mandarin fluency.

Design and ship internal tools for complex financial operations. Own the full product design process from research and workflow discovery through prototyping, validation, implementation, and iteration. Create AI-powered prototypes, contribute production frontend code, design data-rich operational interfaces, support design systems, and collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams.

Design and operate Alpaca’s scalable data platform on GCP, including lakehouse infrastructure, Kubernetes-based deployments, streaming and CDC pipelines, batch ingestion, BI access, cataloging, monitoring, and governance. Build infrastructure as code with Terraform and Ansible, operate distributed query engines and Apache Iceberg, maintain reliability practices, and collaborate with DevOps and analytics teams to support rapidly evolving data requirements.

Own the full sales cycle for Alpaca’s institutional Broker API across the United States. Responsibilities include prospecting, pipeline development, consultative solution selling, product demonstrations, proposal development, negotiation, closing, forecasting, and relationship management with fintechs and financial institutions. The role collaborates with technical, product, marketing, customer success, and legal teams while managing complex enterprise sales cycles remotely.

Provides enterprise clients with support for order entry, execution, FIX sessions, OMS functionality, account management, and trading operations. Monitors trading activity, corporate actions, and anomalies; troubleshoots issues; collaborates with trading desks, IT, operations, and compliance; supports regulatory adherence and risk management; and communicates client feedback to improve products and services.

Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems supporting Alpaca’s financial ledger and brokerage infrastructure. Own high-visibility features from design through deployment, collaborate with finance, operations, product, and engineering stakeholders, and improve system health. Build performant, reliable, maintainable services using modern distributed systems technologies while ensuring the ledger remains a correct source of truth for account transactions, reporting, and compliance.

Build and maintain Alpaca Connect developer-platform experiences using TypeScript, React, and Go. Improve onboarding, app management, compliance review, publishing, consent, and permissions workflows. Design APIs and integrations with identity, account, trading, and market-data systems while creating secure, auditable self-service tools. Own features from design through production and collaborate with Product, Design, Compliance, Support, Partnerships, and Platform teams.

Provide business-oriented legal guidance on U.S. broker-dealer regulation, digital assets, payments, privacy, product launches, marketing, onboarding, regulatory engagement, agreements, policies, and disputes. Monitor SEC, FINRA, CFTC, FinCEN, and OFAC developments; conduct legal research; advise cross-functional teams; and manage litigation, arbitration, outside counsel, claims, and discovery.

Own high-impact cross-functional operating constraints from discovery through measurable resolution. Diagnose root causes across domains, design and build process, automation, governance, or organizational solutions, mobilize teams without direct authority, drive adoption, measure outcomes, and establish durable ownership. The role requires systems thinking, analytical rigor, prioritization, executive communication, and sustained implementation to create operating leverage across the company.

Design, build, and operate highly available GCP infrastructure for trading-critical systems. Own Terraform-based Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes and GKE operations, observability, networking, data stores, and message brokers. Build self-service developer platforms, implement SRE practices, manage incidents and postmortems, and participate in a global follow-the-sun on-call rotation.

Design, build, and maintain scalable brokerage systems supporting international markets. Develop Go-based backend services, gRPC microservices, React interfaces, and vendor integrations. Collaborate with global engineering teams to support multiple languages, currencies, and markets. Lead regional reliability efforts, act as incident commander, troubleshoot production issues, mentor engineers, and contribute to recruitment and cross-functional initiatives. Participate in on-call support and help ensure proactive 24x7 system stability.

Partner with engineering leaders, develop hiring strategies and talent pipelines, manage concurrent searches, source difficult-to-find candidates, report on recruiting metrics, improve candidate experience, and use AI, ATS tools, and recruiting data to enhance hiring processes.
