Summer interns work full-time for 10 weeks under a post-conviction attorney, performing record collection, investigative review, legal research, writing, transcript and evidence analysis, and drafting memoranda. CAP provides an intensive training week and assigns projects related to California death penalty cases. Remote access internships may be available.

Intern supports appellate public-interest teams representing individuals on California's death row. Duties include documentary support, record collection, investigative review, legal research and writing. Work is full- or part-time in the San Francisco office during the academic year. Current enrollment in an accredited California paralegal training program is required; applicants submit cover letter, resume, writing sample, and two references.
