Conduct AI and machine learning research for next-generation wireless communication systems. Develop algorithms, build and evaluate models, run experiments, publish findings, and collaborate with research, development, and product teams to transition research into real-world technologies. The role also involves exploring emerging AI techniques, shaping technical direction, and contributing to Ericsson’s wireless technology strategy.

Own the strategy, roadmap, packaging, lifecycle, and customer experience for Ericsson’s Branch and LAN solutions portfolio. Translate customer and market insights into requirements, use cases, priorities, and commercially viable solutions. Partner with engineering, UX, support, marketing, sales, and operations to deliver products from concept through launch and end of life. Lead product readiness, field enablement, customer positioning, and data-informed roadmap decisions.

Design, train, and evaluate deep neural networks, foundation models, vision-language models, and AI agents for telecom use cases. Reproduce research-paper methods, run scalable experiments on cloud platforms or GPU clusters, and collaborate with researchers and engineers to move proofs of concept into production-ready solutions for cellular networks.

The Principal Modem Engineer will architect, develop, and optimize modem connectivity solutions, oversee engineering teams, and manage the full modem stack on OpenWrt platforms.

Manage Ericsson’s Wi-Fi and wireless communications patent portfolio. Responsibilities include evaluating inventions, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, managing patent dockets, developing claim charts and licensing packages, and supporting patent assertion, licensing negotiations, oppositions, and invalidation proceedings. The role requires USPTO registration, a U.S. state law license, and substantial patent experience focused on Wi-Fi technologies.

Lead commercial strategy, pricing, packaging, and lifecycle experiences for Ericsson’s cloud networking products. Own cloud feature roadmaps, entitlements, purchasing flows, onboarding, renewals, and expansion. Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, IT, Legal, and Customer Success to improve revenue, retention, adoption, and customer experience. Use competitive research, pricing models, funnel analysis, and usage data to guide decisions and present recommendations to senior leadership.

Own end-to-end modem firmware architecture for LGA modules, lead modem software stack integration, define baseband, RF, power-management, and system-interface guidelines, and align firmware, hardware, RF, and platform teams. Serve as the technical partner contact, guide complex design and performance decisions, resolve system-level issues, influence modem roadmaps, and provide technical leadership for high-performance 5G platforms.

Design, develop, and integrate 5G cellular modem firmware and modules into OpenWrt-based router and gateway platforms. Develop Linux kernel drivers, modem communication interfaces, connection-management daemons, routing and failover systems, and network configurations. Optimize throughput and latency, perform firmware updates, debug connectivity across the RF-to-user-space stack, integrate cellular features, collaborate on RF and antenna validation, and create technical documentation.

Lead customer-focused technical sales and solution development for Ericsson’s telecommunications portfolio. Partner with account teams to identify opportunities, design comprehensive solutions, develop proposals and cost models, deliver executive and technical presentations, manage distributed solution teams, support strategic deals through closure, drive upsell opportunities, and influence product roadmaps based on customer needs.

Leads venture investment activities, including sourcing opportunities, developing sector theses, evaluating companies, conducting due diligence, preparing investment recommendations, structuring and closing transactions, and supporting portfolio companies. Builds relationships with founders, investors, executives, and research communities; monitors portfolio performance and follow-on opportunities; and mentors junior investment professionals while contributing to fund strategy.

Research future Wi-Fi technologies across PHY and MAC layers, develop and evaluate link- and system-level simulations, and advance IEEE 802.11 standardization efforts. The role evaluates proposals, identifies 3GPP and IEEE synergies, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, represents Ericsson in standards organizations and customer engagements, and communicates technical results. Work is hybrid in Santa Clara and includes international travel.
