The Staff Recruiter will build and scale Ouster’s recruiting function, including sourcing, hiring, interviewing, talent-pipeline development, and equitable hiring practices. This full-lifecycle recruiter will focus on technical and engineering talent, coach hiring managers and leaders, advise on recruiting strategy, develop processes and tooling, analyze funnel metrics, and potentially manage a recruiting team. The role requires strong judgment, adaptability, storytelling, and the ability to use AI to improve recruiting effectiveness.

Develop and verify RTL for next-generation LiDAR FPGA systems, including simulation, testbench development, synthesis, timing closure, system integration, and real-time sensor optimization. Implement low-level logic for FPGA-based SoCs, support hardware debugging and board bring-up, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with firmware and software teams. The role is onsite in San Francisco.

Leads corporate communications strategy and execution, including communications calendars, press releases, messaging consistency, PR agency coordination, executive thought leadership, media support, and internal communications. Partners with C-suite leaders and Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and People teams to communicate corporate milestones, product launches, customer wins, strategy, compliance, and culture for a publicly traded technology company.

Design, build, and validate cloud data infrastructure and high-throughput pipelines for multimodal sensor (LiDAR, camera, GNSS/IMU) data. Ensure data quality, lineage, versioning, automated validation, IaC, and production stability while partnering with SW/ML teams and labeling vendors.

Design and validate rugged enclosures, mounts, thermal solutions, and structural hardware for sensor-based autonomy products. Own mechanical design from concept through prototype, validation, and mass production, including CAD models, drawings, tolerance analysis, DFM, supplier engagement, and field integration.

Lead development and execution of reliability and verification plans for autonomy hardware. Validate thermal, power, EMI/EMC, vibration, and environmental resilience of compute and electromechanical systems. Design and validate electrical architecture, schematics, and PCBs for autonomy products. Collaborate with HW/FW and mechanical teams to bring up, debug, and validate prototypes, support sensor integration, signal integrity, power optimization, supply chain/NPI, component qualification, and document designs through production ramp.

Supports robotics customers with LiDAR sensor onboarding, network configuration, SDK/API setup, technical triage, diagnostics, and troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, networking, Linux, and Windows environments. Reviews logs and network captures, documents bugs in Jira, replicates issues, guides customers on best practices, contributes to knowledge-base materials, and provides email, video, and phone support while escalating complex cases to senior engineers.

As Lead Embedded Software Engineer, you will architect and build embedded software for LIDAR systems, leading a team in a dynamic environment.

The Staff Software Engineer in Test will design and maintain automated test frameworks for Ouster's lidar software, ensuring quality and performance through CI/CD integration and cross-functional collaboration.

Design and own mechanical components and subsystems for digital LiDAR products from R&D through NPI and sustaining. Create CAD assemblies and drawings, collaborate with electrical/optical/systems teams, ensure producibility and reliability with Manufacturing and Quality, and support validation, testing, and failure analysis.

Lead hardware development for LIDAR systems, driving electrical architecture from concept to production while collaborating with teams. Solve complex hardware issues and document design requirements.
