Chuku joined Snap under the name Sylvia, believing it would be easier for her colleagues to pronounce. But during her first week at the company, she decided she preferred to go by her true name — and her colleagues welcomed the change and fully respected her decision. Since then, Chuku has seen the company celebrate the diversity of its teams, offering them space to share their experiences. She pointed to a film Snap put together called Ode to Noir, which gave Black and Brown employees the opportunity to express their ideas and inspire young professionals from similar backgrounds. Moments like these reinforce how Snap doesn’t just accept its inclusive identity — it cherishes it.
