In this role, you’ll help drive forward Segment’s efforts toward developer and user education, crafting thoughtful, accurate, and detailed documentation to help both new and existing users. You’ll help expand Segment’s documentation efforts by collaborating with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers, while researching new and interesting ways to present content to our users.

• You can write for a variety of audiences, from engineers to business-focused end users
• You have a curiosity that allows you to both go deep on a specific subject, and to cover a broad subject area
• You can absorb, distill, and incorporate feedback from users, support, and cross-functional partners
• You find enjoyment in both teaching and learning from others

Projects you could work on:

• Documentation for an entire product area; ensuring new content is produced on time, and that existing content stays up-to-date
• Drive partner onboarding into our documentation environment
• Review and edit doc submissions from a small (but growing!) group of external contributors
• Help develop and drive adoption of the next generation of documentation tools at Segment

Requirements:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working remotely with a dispersed team
• 3+ years writing documentation for SaaS software products
• Proficient writing in Markdown
• Experience using Git workflows
• Basic working knowledge of HTML / CSS
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to timelines as they change
• Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Design, Engineering, and Support.

Bonus points:

• Familiarity with static site builders (Jekyll and similar) and Liquid template language
• Web development experience
• Familiarity with the docs-as-code methodology
