Your team 

The Data Pipeline team is at the core of Nuna’s promise to deliver exceptional and actionable data insights to our clients. We are responsible for the scalable comprehension, ingestion, cleansing, and deploying of client data on schedule - think of us as the heart muscle that pumps data throughout Nuna. 

Your impact  

Data Pipeline is a team of data engineers, with a mix of skills and experience including healthcare and data operations.  We untangle messy and complex healthcare data and enable our Data Analytics and Product Engineering teams to perform and deliver exceptional models and value payment product features to our clients.  You are responsible for building a scalable, reliable ingest pipeline of all of our customer's most important data.

Your opportunities 

  • Solve data problems at a world-class level including but not limited to:
    • Improving customer on-boarding time and making data on-boarding more "self service"
    • Developing innovative solutions for automated data quality measurement
    • Partnering with Product Management & Engineering teams to develop data pipeline automation solutions, from ingress to production.
    • Partnering with Customer Solutions & Health Data Analytics teams to develop solutions to customer data challenges as they arise
    • Partnering with Security & Infrastructure team on low level data transfer issues
    • Developing and maintaining self-validating and continuous testing practices to assure data integrity
    • Understanding and applying best practices for data governance and lineage
    • Operationalizing and documenting  customer data pipelines for ongoing support
  • Manage work planning, tracking, reporting, and communication to stakeholders.
  • Provide an appropriate framework for the team to get their best work done: stand ups, sprints, retrospectives, blameless postmortems, etc.
  • Develop and provide career growth opportunities for more junior team members, provide regular feedback through 1:1 sessions,  lead performance reviews, and scale the team for success.
  • Coordinate with multiple partner teams for prioritization, capacity planning, estimation of resources and levels of effort.
  • Systematize and automate data pipeline operations, in order to scale up capacity and speed while reducing manual toil.
  • Nurture and grow a team that can deliver sustain high performance without relying on individual heroism

 

You bring 

  • Strong semantic understanding of the data sets used in healthcare (with a preference for knowledge of value-based care)
  • Experience working with healthcare data and data interchange standards
  • Experience in ETL and data quality measurement of health care data 
  • Experience in evaluation of open source & commercial technologies for use in the data pipeline platform
  • Experience and a strong desire to practice coding: SQL, Python (Scala a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership roles in data pipeline automation and operations
  • Experience, formal or informal, in leading projects and motivating teams in a fast paced environment
  • Experience working with multiple partner teams
  • Experience managing people:
    • Working with other team leads and company leadership
    • Performance assessment and management
    • Pre-COVID experience with managing across multiple locations a plus
