About this Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the team that builds and maintains the systems and services that allow Zumper to deliver an effective and personalized product to our users. Together we will craft the Zumper platform that millions of renters and landlords depend on every month in their apartment-finding!

What you will do

• Maintain and improve our data pipelines written in Python using Apache Airflow
• Unify data from multiple data sources using SQL, Python, and other languages
• Design and implement accessible and performant data abstractions for analysts and data scientists
• Work collaboratively with business, data and engineering teams to translate problems into technical projects and infrastructure that drives business results
• Participate in an on-call rotation

Who you are

• Experience with designing, developing, and maintaining robust Python ETL Pipelines with Apache Airflow
• Strong understanding of relational databases, query authoring (SQL) and query performance tuning
• Experience or exposure to a variety of datastores (relational, NoSQL, data warehouse solutions)
• Care about architecture, observability, testing, and building reliable infrastructure and pipelines
• Are motivated to propose technical solutions, own software architecture, evaluate technologies and infrastructure, and develop technical roadmaps for future applications

Bonus skills

• Snowflake - including permission management and schema design
• Fivetran and/or other Snowflake connectors
• Real-time and batch processing of high volume analytics data
• Self-leading - will be a founding member of the data engineering team
