This position is through Upwork’s Talent Innovation Program (TIP). Our TIP team is a global group of professionals that augment Upwork’s business. Our TIP team members are located all over the world.

We are looking for experienced Data Scientists with an interest in a long-term position with our Data Science Job Search and Recommendation Team.
Responsibilities:

- Manipulate and analyze large data set with scalability to uncover user behavior and trends
- Build cutting edge machine learning models and products with a direct impact on our marketplace experience
- Collaborate with Scientists, Engineers, Product Managers and other teams in Upwork
Must have requirements:

- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
- Extensive experience with a variety of machine learning techniques and know-how in state-of-the-art Deep Learning techniques
- Extensive experience using statistical computer languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- Solid knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions and experiment design, etc.).
- Excellent English skills - verbal and written communication
- Can work full-time (40 hrs per week) on an ongoing project
- Flexible working hours with a required overlap for communication with a team in California (generally until 12 pm PDT)
