Who We Are and What We’re About:

Brightline is on a mission to build a bright future for every child, bringing extraordinary behavioral health care to children and families.

We’re in the middle of a behavioral health crisis that we can’t ignore—especially not when it comes to our children. 1 in every 5 children has a behavioral health condition, yet up to 80% still get little or no help. Far too many families face insurmountable barriers when their child really needs help, and parents are too often left feeling alone and without the support they need. We can do so much better. That’s why we’re here!

When you join Brightline, you’re joining a team that has an unstoppable drive to change the lives of families across the country. We’re a team of thoughtful problem-solvers, expert and kind clinicians, and experienced operators and technologists. Above all, we’re committed to helping each other succeed, learn, and grow—all while bringing care to families when, where, and how they need it.

No matter what you’re looking for in your next role, we’re pretty confident that you’ll #FindItAtBrightline.

About the Role

The ideal candidate is an exceptional product designer who specializes in user interface visual design, with an interest to grow across the design skill spectrum. You will contribute to user understanding, craft our member & provider experiences, and ultimately build and scale the design system for Brightline’s products. This individual will also have opportunities to contribute to end-to-end design projects for our product experiences directly impacting our coaches, clinicians, and families that we serve. This role will partner closely with other team members spanning Product, Engineering, Clinical Programs, and Marketing.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintain a consistent and coherent design system: You will be one of the primary drivers of our visual language, helping us set our standards in design system usage, including developing, maintaining, documenting, and gaining adoption of pattern libraries, allowing us to deliver high-quality work efficiently and consistently.
  • Key contributor to the Brightline product’s visual design: You will be creating net new components based on the Brightline design and brand guidelines and evolving the current visual language based on user feedback and business requirements
  • End-to-end product design: While this role will focus on visual UI design, you will help design features end-to-end while collaborating with our product, engineering and clinical teams.
  • Advocate for quality and delight: Keen attention to quality and details throughout the feature development process. Push for delightful and beautiful designs and interactions that will foster an emotional connection with Brightline members.
  • Craft well-loved designs: Roll-up your sleeves to create inspired workflows and prototypes, iteratively validate designs with users, and partner with engineering to deliver delightful, impactful solutions.

You will thrive at Brightline in this role if you have:

  • A passion for our mission to redefine behavioral health for children, teens, and their families and for creating compelling visual experiences
  • 3+ years of experience designing digital products, with a portfolio full of successfully shipped mobile and responsive web experiences
  • Experience developing, contributing to and maintaining design and illustration systems utilizing Atomic Design principles
  • Knowledge of technical constraints and guidelines as they relate to platforms such as web, and native mobile (iOS & Android) and familiarity with best practices
  • A deep understanding of user interface application of color, space, typography, iconography, illustration and inclusive design.
  • Fluent in Figma and maintaining and building pattern libraries and a passion to upskill the team’s Figma prowess
  • Exceptional skills in collaboration and cross-functional partnership, especially with front-end engineers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication of design rationales
  • Self-initiated drive to jump into all aspects of design as is critical in a start-up
  • A commitment to promote our initiatives around accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience designing against and understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA standards
  • Rich prototyping skills and motion design experience
  • Experience in running usability tests to validate your awesome work

The interview process will require you to share your design portfolio. We’re looking for a clear and well-structured portfolio that outlines the problems you were tackling, and the process you followed. Your portfolio should lean heavily in visual design for digital products.

  • Remote first and focused on community—we have Bright Spots with employees across the country (check out more info below) + generous work-from-home stipend
  • Competitive compensation & benefits packages because we know the work you do is hard and we recognize how valuable you are, including an unlimited PTO policy + 14 paid holidays, Health, Vision, Dental, 401k, and stock options
