The Opportunity

Parsec creates ultra-low latency, high-performance remote desktop technology that empowers creative professionals to work from anywhere, businesses to embrace flexible workplaces, and individuals to play together from anywhere. As a member of our small backend team you will work in a collaborative environment to implement Parsec’s roadmap while constantly improving upon and refactoring our codebase. We’re looking for an enthusiastic candidate who brings their own perspective but knows how to communicate and work together as a team, and who is always eager to learn and take on new challenges.

What you’ll be doing

Develop key features on Parsec’s roadmap
Design, develop, document and maintain APIs
Collaborate closely with frontend developers, DevOps and security engineers

What we're looking for

Professional experience developing APIs
Solid understanding of database modeling
Fluency in MySQL
Strong grasp of security principles
Experience with Go

Building better products with diverse perspectives

“When Unity says, ‘The world is a better place with more creators in it,’ that mission has to be inclusive of all creators,” said Tricia McIntosh. As the co-chair of Access ERG, McIntosh is working to influence change and be a conduit for disabled and neurodivergent voices by partnering with the accessibility council and engineering team. Access ERG engages in a number of activities, such as soliciting feedback from the group and bringing in guest speakers. By amplifying disabled perspectives internally, the company has a better chance of creating a product that is better for everyone.

Making it easy for disabled employees to work and thrive at Unity means that we will be better able to create accessible products, and therefore serve a greater number of creators overall.

Envisioning a better future

James Turnage-Lannan stays busy. When he’s not creating programs that support Unity’s underrepresented learners in finding job opportunities, he is working to launch Elevate, a hiring program to support job seekers, and co-chairing ComUnidad, Unity’s Latinx ERG. “I joined ComUnidad to get more in touch with my Nicaraguan half. Now, as a co-chair, I am so proud of the Latinx community that we’ve built,” said Turnage-Lannan. He constantly receives messages from community members and allies thanking the team for building a comfortable space to be themselves at work.

My work on these programs gives me a glimpse into the future I would like to see in this industry. My hope is that programs like these shift the mindsets of those with the power to make a difference.

Annie Carnahan’s goal is to ensure the workforce at Unity reflects the diversity of the global creator network. To achieve this, her team has developed a structured recruiting framework that prioritizes diverse candidates.
