Engineering Manager, Platform Security

- Lead a team of security engineers who will build and implement platform security tools and services, secure Discord's cloud, on-premise, and build infrastructure, and advise on development of the Discord platform.
- Guide important security programs the affect hundreds of developers including Identity and Access management, Secrets management, CI/CD security, and cloud and infrastructure security monitoring.
- Develop solutions to scale security baselines for cloud resources using automation.
- Partner with Anti-Abuse and Trust & Safety to improve our ability to yeet and delete bad actors from Discord.
What you have:
- 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager and have managed a team of 3+ Security Engineers.
- 3+ years of experience as a Security Engineer working on systems with millions of users.
- Experience programming in at least one general purpose programming language (e.g. Python, Rust, Go).
- Experience securing cloud-based environments (we use Google Cloud).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (we use Terraform).
- Experience with container orchestration technologies (e.g. Kubernetes).
- Experience with serverless technologies (e.g. Cloudflare Workers)
- Passion for building diverse and inclusive teams.
- Comfort with writing the roadmap - not just following one.
Bonus Points
- Experience building and operating a service mesh, (e.g. Istio, Linkerd).
- Experience with or an understanding of modern authentication and authorization protocols and concepts, (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, WebAuthn/FIDO2, Zero Trust, mTLS).
