YOUR MISSION

As a Frontend Engineer in the Canvas Insights team, you will help grow our business by developing features that power our cutting edge visual collaboration app. The core purpose and goal of the Insights team is to surface data about elements in the MURAL. Users will be able to easily gather and synthesize their work to tell a powerful story. Visually surfacing new connections and different perspectives will lead to greater insights and understandings of how different factors may be related. The Insights team will create the building blocks for these new visualizations and synthesis tools. From these building blocks, there will be an unlimited number of strategic features and functionalities we will be able to surface.

In this role, you will:

  • Be a part of building a product and adding value to it, having ownership over what you do and seeing it evolve.
  • Understand user requirements and pain points in order to be able to help solve them.
  • Collaborate with QA engineers, product managers, designers, and data team.
  • Have a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration. We strongly encourage doing pair programming and code reviews!
  • Be a problem solver, use your resources to work autonomously and bring new ideas to our work sharing your particular experience and knowledge
  • Generate experiments, test them with production users, analyze, repeat
  • Be part of tech designs and talks, helping level up others around you
  • Iterate on prototype based on feedback and create engineering tasks that would bring the feature into production

YOUR PROFILE

  • Experience with transforming complex/unstructured data into clear visualizations
  • Ability to take an idea/spec and turn it into a prototype quickly
  • Deep understanding of Javascript/Typescript, React and it's ecosystem
  • Bias for action
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advocate for new technologies, methods, and approaches to solving problems and achieving product goals

Ideally you have...

  • A background in Arts or Media, Graphics or Computer Science
  • Familiarity with a11y concepts
  • Machine Learning experience is a bonus
  • Familiarity with creative coding tools like threejs, d3, cinder, openframeworks, processing, aframe or nannou
