Sr. Software Engineer, Back End (Remote)

At Capital One, Card Fraud Technology is one of those teams where you can "see it all". We coordinate complicated business processes across a huge (and growing!) fleet of microservices doing everything from sending real time alerts to deleting credit cards and releasing restricted accounts. We build our services using Java and Python, with technologies such as Spring Boot, Rest APIs, and AWS.
Whether we're scanning 10 new applications, 700 payment requests, or even 800 card authorizations per second, we're constantly on the lookout for fraudsters. By joining the Card Fraud team you'll have the opportunity to use machine learning, bot detection, voice printing, and rule-based systems to spot the latest trends and issues in Fraud.
You will:
- Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
- Continuously improve software engineering practices
- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
- Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 4 years experience in software development (internship experience does not apply
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree
- 6+ years experience in software development
- 5+ years experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Location is New York City: $161,900 - $184,800 for Senior Software Engineer
Location is San Francisco, California: $171,500 - $195,800 for Senior Software Engineer
Remote roles in other areas of New York & California, and across Colorado & Washington: $137,200 - $156,600 for Senior Software Engineer
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
