The Accounting Manager, Global Payroll, is a key position within the finance organization with teams located in Belmont, CA, and Manila, Philippines. This position reports to the Director of Accounting. The Accounting Manager will lead and manage all aspects of global payroll accounting operations for our rapidly growing company and must be a strategic and tactical leader, with a successful track record. They will drive timely, accurate, and compliant payroll, improving end-to-end processes as well as have the full responsibility for payroll accounting. The Accounting Manager will interface extensively with the following teams: payroll, human resources, total rewards, recruiting, legal, technical accounting and financial reporting, financial planning & analysis, tax, and external auditors. The Accounting Manager should thrive in a fast-paced, growth environment, and be a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leader.
To succeed in this role you must have experience in:
Perform and review monthly payroll close duties, including the preparation/review of period-end accruals and monthly journal entries for all payroll and benefits, preparation/review of reconciliations of payroll accounts and preparation of month-end flux analysis for all payroll accounts
Manage monthly payroll close and prepare management reporting deck
Review and audit payroll data, ensuring accurate wages, tax withholdings, deductions, and garnishments and end-of-year payroll tax and reporting compliance
Responsible for communicating to the payroll team; key accounting judgments and policies including oversight, implementation and execution of new accounting guidance
Continue to develop an accounting infrastructure that will support significant growth and effectively scale with increased complexity
Support and lead accounting process improvement and team development activities
Manage internal/external payroll audits for the accounting department related to all payroll posting and reconciliations.
Document and enforce internal controls in compliance with company’s SOX procedures
Drive special projects, including process documentation and improvements
Develop, drive and report on key metrics for the function
Support management on ad hoc projects such as scalability initiatives & acquisitions
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in payroll processing & accounting
Bachelor’s Degree in business, Accounting or Finance
CPP is a plus
Experience in the global payroll accounting function at a public multinational high-tech company
Strong analytical skills and flux analysis on P&L and Balance Sheet
Experience with major payroll software such as Workday
NetSuite or similar financial ERP system experience is a plus
Experience with Blackline reconciliation software is a plus
Ability to function in a highly confidential environment
Ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment where change is the norm, strong multi-tasking skills and flexibility to switch between projects quickly
Excellent presentation and communication skills in addition to strong problem-solving skills
Proficient with MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel
Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills. Desire to grow and expand in the role.
