Our Growth Mindset (The Mission):

Think back on your time in school and a project or experience that got you fired up, curious, and motivated to try your best. Can you remember one? If you’re like us, there are some projects we remember decades later -- those times when we were so engaged in what we were doing that we couldn’t help but learn.

Seesaw is a learning platform that brings educators, students and families together to deepen student learning. Teachers design and facilitate powerful learning experiences, students create, reflect, collaborate and make their learning visible, and families actively support and celebrate student learning. Seesaw is used by millions of K-12 students in over half the schools in the U.S.

The Curriculum (Your Role):

As Seesaw’s Accounting Manager, you will own components of the accounts receivable cycle, the accounts payable cycle, monthly close and reporting, tax, payroll (including commissions), and accounting systems and automation. You will ensure that our accounting is in compliance with GAAP and our financial systems and processes mature and scale to support Seesaw’s rapid growth.

Your Classmates (The Team):

You will be a key contributor and leader on our finance team, which includes a Director of Finance (who will be your manager), a Finance Manager, a Financial Analyst, an Accounts Receivable Associate, and our external accounting firm and bookkeeper.

Subject Matter (Your Responsibilities):

  • Build out the monthly close process, workpapers, and reconciliations
  • Lead system implementations and integrations (most notably, an Accounting ERP such as NetSuite)
  • Own the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable cycles, payroll (including monthly commissions), and audit
  • Ensure consistent application and further development of corporate accounting policies, procedures, and revenue recognition policies in compliance with US GAAP
  • Develop processes, systems, and documentation to support the rapid growth of the company

Prerequisites (The Requirements):

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience at B2B SaaS/tech startups, or a combination of B2B SaaS startups and an accounting/audit firm
  • Experience building out a monthly close and managing staff
  • Successfully implemented and integrated financial systems and tools; Netsuite implementation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong technical skills and experience in financial reporting and US GAAP accounting
  • Willingness and excitement to lead or assist in a wide variety of accounting, finance, and operational areas.
  • An organized self-starter who takes initiative to identify opportunities for department/company improvements, develop plans to remediate what you identify, and work cross functionally with other teams or independently to execute
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) who enjoys discussing the impact of finance and accounting issues to senior management and non-finance business partners
  • Results driven with a high level of ownership, initiative, teamwork, accountability, and integrity

Extracurriculars (Nice to Haves):

  • CPA experience preferred
