We’re hiring for an Equity Administrator!

Want to have an impact at one of the fastest-growing unicorn companies in the Bay Area? Join the team at Fivetran! Fivetran was recently named to the Cloud 100 list as one of the hottest cloud software companies today. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, employee-obsessed, self-professed equity nerd to join our global SaaS company and take on a key role in our business. This role will join the Legal team and own all things equity - from administration to education - for our growing global employee base (with offices across 8 countries and counting!). You are comfortable being the face of our most valuable asset - our equity - but also able to dig deep into the details, including systems implementations and regionalized tax matters. This is a US-based role that can be based remotely, or out of either our Oakland or Denver offices (pending post-COVID return to work plans).

What you’ll work on: An unparalleled opportunity to bring not only your years of equity knowledge, but also your broader interpersonal communication skills to help us educate our employee base and put in place operational processes that last the long term. This is a strategic role that will grow with the business, and advise on critical and broad-based areas of risk and opportunity as it relates to all things equity.

  • Acting in all the typical responsibilities you’d expect from this role as it relates to equity issuances, including collating, reviewing, and assisting with the board approval process for equity, and following board approval, ensuring that equity is accurately uploaded and shared to our equity management platform (Carta), and managing grant documentation.
  • Advising on equity program design, including new equity programs, cadences, and eventual move to RSUs, bringing lived experience with a variety of equity programs to our current and future equity and stock compensation strategies.
  • Leading our equity operations, including responding to day to day requests from equity holders, partnering with our people operations and finance teams, ensuring systems and integrations support, serving as point person for Carta, and taking the lead on employee communications.
  • Spearheading equity education in the broadest form, including presenting at all hands meetings, onboarding sessions, quarterly learning presentations, and country-specific equity education series.
  • Owning template documents related to equity, including periodic updates and necessary regionalizations, working closely with our corporate legal function.
  • Creating internal knowledge management resources and ensuring they are kept up to date with changing policies.
  • Participating in key investor relations initiatives, including responding to current and future investor requests as they relate to equity questions and creating models as needed.
  • Playing an active part in preparations for and presentations to our compensation committee.
  • Other special projects given your interest areas and the needs of a rapidly scaling company & team.

What we’re looking for: Someone who thrives simultaneously in the details and in the big picture communications. You are process and detail oriented when it comes to the what, and engaging and responsive when it comes to the how of working with our employee base.

Key qualities include:

  • You have a knack for building trust and you invest in personal relationships. You dive deep into the business to forge relationships at the individual level that help carry through the larger strategic objectives of the company and team.
  • The hard things don’t scare you! You can distill complex concepts (tax consequences, transaction details, exercise instructions, and more!) into easily digestible bites that are accessible to all.
  • Detail orientation is your middle name. As someone deeply familiar with equity matters, you know that dates, communication styles, word choice, and decimal                           points matter, and you check your work not twice but multiple times.
  • Cross-functional leadership lives within you. Your relationship orientation allows you to build strong cross-functional relationships across the business to influence and inspire other teams when it comes to systems implementations, operations processes, compensation philosophy more broadly, and communications practices and strategies.

Other qualities include:

  • CEP designation preferred.
  • Prior experience working in Carta or similar equity management software.
  • Prior experience at a high-growth private company.
  • Exposure to the accounting for equity and stock compensation, including preparation of reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Experience preparing Section 16 reports, reviewing 10b5-1 plans, administering insider trading plans and drafting stock-related sections of 10-Ks, 10-Qs and proxy statements.
  • A belief and practice that no task is too big or too small.
  • Curiosity that drives a desire to learn new contexts and communication styles.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative that drives a desire for impact and achievement.
  • Comfort with fast-paced environments and openness to change.
  • Aptitude for working with diverse stakeholders and rolling with the punches.
  • Someone who wants to take the lead, and be rewarded for doing so.
  • A healthy sense of humor.

Who we are: Data fuels powerful insights. We believe access to data should be as simple and reliable as utilities. We provide data power to companies big and small looking to extract their data from a variety of data sources, to be loaded into warehouses like Snowflake, Databricks,  Amazon Redshift and more. Check out our customer stories to see how we help some of the world’s most innovative companies (including Docusign, Strava, and Donors Choose) superpower their data analytics capabilities with Fivetran’s modern data stack. Fivetran reached unicorn status in June 2020 when we raised a $100M Series C led by Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst. We power the modern data stack from our Oakland, CA headquarters with a global team grounded in integrity, initiative, and our ethos of “1 Team, 1 Dream.”

What you need to know: Title of the role to be based on relevancy of experience. Our team hires on relevant (quality of) experience, not years (volume of) experience. Not sure if you qualify but meet most of the key qualities listed above? Please apply.
