If you’re excited by the idea of making a meaningful impact and joining a team where we pride ourselves on driving innovation through fostering an environment with an emphasis on empowering one another to grow, Helix might be the place for you!

Helix + The World

Helix is the leading population genomics and viral surveillance company. Helix enables health systems, public health organizations and life science companies to accelerate the integration of genomic data into patient care and public health decision making.

We are continuing to scale our world-class team to support our dedication to empowering every person to improve their life through DNA.

What is special about this role:

The FP&A Analyst will play a critical role in both the day-to-day operations and the future growth of Helix. You will support Helix’s financial forecasting and budgeting process, as well as collaborate cross-functionally on special projects as they arise.  You will help drive the implementation of an upgraded ERP system, as well as assist in developing processes and procedures to support Helix’s fast growing business lines.  This role reports into the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and will work alongside a team that consists of a Corporate Controller, Cost Accounting Manager, and Accountant.

As our company rapidly grows, we are looking for highly motivated individuals who are comfortable in a start-up environment with limited direction and unlimited ambition to get it done. Ultimately, we want those who can metabolize our core values to fuel discovery as we strive to accomplish something bigger than ourselves. And, of course, have a little fun in the process

As a Financial Analyst,  you will:

  • Responsible for maintaining budgets, plans and forecast information across key Helix functional departments.
  • Responsible for supporting a major ERP system upgrade, creating and building FP&A processes  and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to company policies for accurate financial reporting.
  • Support monthly closing of the books which entails actual to forecast and actual to plan bridge analysis as well as specific analysis of key expense accounts.
  • Active participation in establishing a yearly strategic plan for the functions.
  • Financial support of major project initiatives (e.g. Cash Flow and ROI analysis).

About you:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or Business-related field, MBA preferred
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant financial planning and analysis experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to turn data into actionable insights in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a cross-geographic, cross-organizational, and cross-cultural team
  • Excellent analytical and spreadsheet/presentation skills. Knowledge of Google Suite applications as well as MS Office.
  • Able to work with large amounts of data and develop scalable solutions for financial reporting and forecasting
  • Able to effectively analyze ambiguous business opportunities and provide recommendations on risks opportunities, and implementation strategies
  • General understanding of GAAP
  • History of adding value to support various business functions and teams

Pluses:

  • Industry or academic background in healthcare and/or life sciences (pharma, biotech, medtech/diagnostics)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Ability to tell a story focused on insights, not just numbers

What’s important to us:

  • Curiosity — we are all passionate about the possibilities enabled by having access to your own genome
  • Responsibility — we have an obligation to people and our partners to operate with highly credible research guided by well respected advisors, with clear and effective communication about our products
  • Agility — flexibility and a desire to be nimble, smart, and effective are important to the Helix culture
  • Follow-through — we’re building a diverse team with amazing track records of achievement in multidisciplinary environments

What Helix has to offer you:

Aside from working alongside brilliant, dedicated, passionate, down-to-earth, curious, warm, and thoughtful people, we also provide great benefits:

  • Competitive compensation, Comprehensive Health insurance package including employer sponsored HSA
  • 12 weeks of Maternity or Paternity leave
  • 401(k) with employer matching and 100% vested on first day
