Financial Communications Director
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.
Affirm’s communications team is responsible for advancing Affirm’s business objectives in conjunction with building and protecting the company’s reputation. We do this by working closely with the media, using consistent and compelling narratives, and identifying creative storytelling opportunities!
Affirm is looking for someone to lead communications initiatives that build and protect our growing brand with a particular focus on investor-facing media! This leader will drive the development and amplification of our corporate story across media and integration that story across relevant marketing channels and campaigns. They will also lead communications related to major financial events and company achievements. Ongoing activities will also include building positive relationships with key reporters, proactive pitching, and issues management. In addition, you’ll develop creative story ideas that increase understanding of who Affirm is and the value we deliver to our partners. Finally, you’ll be responsible for working with other leading communicators and marketers to advance Affirm’s mission.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and execute corporate and financial communications
- Evolve and own Affirm’s corporate story
- Partner with brand / B2B / consumer communications to advance stories among the investor-facing media
- Promote and craft Affirm’s reputation through a goal-based, measurable strategy and plan
- Provide C-level with media coaching and training
- Manage and build media relationships with a focus on investor-facing press
- Engage in issues management
- Work closely with our legal and finance teams, particularly around company achievements / financial events
What We Look For:
- 10+ years experience, preferably with time spent in a dynamic start-up environment and/or a public company.
- Self-starter, creative, problem-solver, critical thinker.
- Collaborative attitude; ability to bring people together.
- Experience working across matrixed organizations to drive desired outcomes.
- Strong writer who is comfortable selling ideas both internally and externally
- Agency management experience
- Comfort with tight deadlines and a fast-paced environment where things move and change quickly
- Track record of M&A comms/comms around other major financial events
Location
We’re excited to announce that Affirm is now a remote-first company! This role can be located anywhere in the U.S. and Canada (with the exception of Quebec). Remote based employees may occasionally travel to an Affirm office for meetings or team building events. Our offices in San Francisco, New York City, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Salt Lake City will remain operational and accessible for anyone to use on a voluntary basis.
