The Team
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the accounting function at Torch.
Your responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with the month-end close process, and assisting with internal and external audits for internal purposes at Torch. Additionally, you will lead sales tax audits in addition to maintaining business registration in various states.
You will also be assisting the Senior Accounting Manager as needed and responding to ad-hoc requests.
Your position:
- You will ensure accuracy in the filing of Sales Tax returns and compliance with sales tax requirements of various currently liable states and ensure tracking of Nexus in all other states.
- You will lead sales tax audits as applicable.
- You will maintain Business Registration in various states.
- You will communicate with states to resolve tax discrepancies.
- You will manage our semi-monthly payroll processing and reporting and manage our sales commissions and contractor pay processes.
- You will ensure compliance with payroll tax registration requirements and related reporting.
- You will assist staff and contractors with general questions related to payroll.
- You will assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger activity.
- You will build strong working relationships with various cross-functional groups in Human Resources.
- You will build and maintain vendor relationships with 3rd party providers.
Your experience:
- You have professional working experience in accounting (preferably tax experience).
- You have a working knowledge of SaaS sales and/or Payroll or Corporate Tax filings.
- You have a working knowledge of GAAP.
- You have advance experience with Microsoft Excel.
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in addition to being organized.
- You have international regulatory experience, is preferred not required.
- You have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is preferred not required.
