At Volta we’re on a mission to accelerate the adoption of the electric vehicle. Volta creates city-wide free electric vehicle charging networks in major metropolitan areas. Our charging networks are free-to-use, free to our property partners, and monetized through brand sponsorships and digital media content.

We are seeking an Interior Design Intern to create a visual experience through design for our current and new office spaces. You will be the champion of Volta’s aesthetics and design from conception through execution.

This position is based in San Francisco and is a 3 month paid opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design sketches, material boards and work with drawings that include construction details, bespoke furniture, lighting, millwork details, and specifications
• Create floor plans and quickly mock up layouts across different styles (mid-century, traditional, modern, rustic, contemporary, etc)
• Identify and select products and vendors that meet Volta’s aesthetics and standards
• Research and compile pricing details for furniture and finish cost estimates from manufacturers and representatives
• Source furniture, finishes and products appropriate to project type and use
• Maintain ongoing product research and dialogue with vendors 
• Work collaboratively with internal and external team members throughout the design process

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BFA or Masters in Interior Design or related field
• Passionate about design and knowledgeable about current trends and retailers
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
• Excellent sketching and conceptual design skills
• Understanding of fabrics and finish materials
• Self-starter who is reliable, needs little direction and has a strong attention to detail
• Collaborator who is resourceful, loves experimentation and rolls up their sleeves to get the job done
