Role Overview:

The PR Intern will receive valuable public relations experience in a fast-paced startup environment with an industry-leading company. You should be excited to work alongside our team here, helping to tell the story of the future of competition. From media inquiries to our online brand presence, the role of the PR Intern combines traditional media with new forms of communication. The ideal candidate should have a bit of public relations, marketing or journalism experience and be eager to learn and grow their skill set in this hands-on role that will truly impact the business. We’re looking for someone with a passion for PR and social media, excellent analytical and organizational skills, and a strong interest in communications.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Work closely with the Communications team to coordinate on projects including social media, blog content, speaking engagements, awards, media outreach, and messaging.
  • Identify speaking opportunities, interact with event organizers, help draft submissions and presentations, and assist in managing the PR calendar.
  • Implement innovative narratives through concept development, data mining, creative asset management, content creation, and reporting metrics.
  • Optimize Skillz social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and our blog through content development, creative assets, promotions, timing, and individualized social platform initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for any additional PR assets, including our PR agency, marketing analytics team, graphic designers, etc.
  • Analyze media coverage and PR campaign performance for company-wide reporting and increased awareness.

Your Skillz:

  • 0-2 years of PR experience. You've preferably completed some or all of the following duties: drafting strategic media lists and pitches, speaking event research and submissions, media outreach and correspondence, social media account management and briefing documents for press interviews.
  • Knowledge, passion and heavy usage of social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized, with experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint along with Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Presentations.
  • Self starter with a proactive and analytical mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for creative writing and storytelling. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining a positive attitude, sense of humor and desire to learn.
  • College graduate with a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, English or business preferred.
