Position Summary

Data Science at Expanse has both an R&D and operational component. Operationally, the Data Science team touches all departments at Expanse. You will have close working relationships with Marketing, Sales, Product, Engineering, and CSM -- building tools that see heavy use in these departments. Additionally, the Data Science team works to find insights in cybersecurity data sets ranging in size from gigabytes to petabytes. Expanse’s global collections architecture yields the best and most detailed global view into the device layer of the public internet data set ever created.

What You’ll Do

• Foremost, help protect our government and customers against foreign adversaries. Our analyses have contributed to congressional briefings and have helped set government and defense contractor standards of practice!

• Generate and build out relevant and interesting reports on customer data which will be used by all of our account managers to communicate these data to our customers.

• Build and use tools which parse and aggregate data from various sources - many requiring differing methods and hosting data in differing formats/schemas.

• Explore and characterize our internal data to find ways to identify new (and existing) exploits and vulnerabilities "in the wild", on the internet as a whole.

• Perform longitudinal studies across *the entire internet* to find interesting facts and trends, whose data can end up in whitepapers, blogposts, or even reports by outside news sources.

• Analyze our customer usage data to help inform product design.

• Perform open-ended analysis to determine directions for potential new product offerings and build prototypes when appropriate.

• Analyze internal usage data to help improve and optimize our internal tools.

• Collaborate with the sales team to help generate data which will contribute to sales pitches or PoVs. Always be closing!

• This is NOT a role with a hyper-focus on machine learning nor one that necessitates writing ETLs all day. It’s much more fun.
