Company Description

Zscaler (NASDAQ: ZS) accelerates digital transformation so that customers can be more agile, efficient, resilient, and secure. The Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange is the company’s cloud-native platform that protects thousands of customers from cyberattacks and data loss by securely connecting users, devices, and applications in any location.

With more than 10 years of experience developing, operating, and scaling the cloud, Zscaler serves thousands of enterprise customers around the world, including 450 of the Forbes Global 2000 organizations. In addition to protecting customers from damaging threats, such as ransomware and data exfiltration, it helps them slash costs, reduce complexity, and improve the user experience by eliminating stacks of latency-creating gateway appliances.

Zscaler was founded in 2007 with a mission to make the cloud a safe place to do business and a more enjoyable experience for enterprise users. Zscaler’s purpose-built security platform puts a company’s defenses and controls where the connections occur—the internet—so that every connection is fast and secure, no matter how or where users connect or where their applications and workloads reside.

Job Description

Zscaler is seeking a talented and business-oriented junior attorney to join its growing Legal team in EMEA and support the company’s commercial sales business. In this position, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams worldwide (Sales, Channel, Marketing, CISO, Product Management, Engineering, and Business Development) to provide best-in-class legal support to our customers, with a specific focus on managing, negotiating and executing commercial transactions for the Zscaler EMEA Enterprise and Commercial business, and providing advice and counseling related to EU Data Privacy matters.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a junior attorney that is currently either in-house or at a law firm to make a high impact, and to contribute to a hugely successful public company that is at the cutting edge of cloud security. This position currently reports to Zscaler’s Head of Legal EMEA based in the UK, and you will enjoy being part of a wider collaborative, supportive, fun, and friendly global legal team. This role will require a high degree of self-sufficiency, organizational skills, and proactivity working within a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, with a primary focus on SaaS subscription agreements, data protection agreements, professional services agreements, and non-disclosure (confidentiality) agreements. Advise on legal, finance and business considerations associated with those commercial transactions;
  • Collaborate and partner effectively with key internal stakeholders to achieve win-win agreements for both the company but also for our customers;
  • Assist with legal departments projects as assigned, and regularly contribute to efforts to improve, enhance and streamline our standard commercial agreements, contract negotiation playbooks, and all aspects of the contract negotiation process, so that we can quickly scale without material increases in risk;
  • Provide periodic trainings to employees on any or all of the above.

Qualifications

  • You will ideally already have a minimum of 1-3 years of transactional experience with either an international law firm or in-house global enterprise company (or ideally a combination of both).
  • Qualified to practice law in an EU country and be in good standing. Having a CIPP certification is a distinct advantage.
  • Fluency in English is essential, with additional languages (especially German or French) being highly desired.
  • Commercial transactions background in technology and SaaS, especially dealing with Sales transactions.
  • Good knowledge of EU Data Privacy laws and the GDPR.
  • You will already be a good negotiator that is looking to further develop your influencing skills and you will be able to plan, manage and conduct negotiations on a non-confrontational win-win basis, keeping calm under fire.
  • Strong business acumen and a familiarity with GAAP rules and revenue recognition issues.
  • Must possess excellent judgment and be able to work independently and juggle multiple priorities to meet deadlines, all within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
