About the role: 

This role reports to the General Counsel and involves a broad set of responsibilities providing legal guidance related to commercial sales and partnerships, regulatory, privacy, employment, corporate law, and marketing. We are growing fast and Legal will play a big role in enabling our growth.

Most critical for this role is being able to understand where the business is going and tailoring your legal advice to achieve those goals. What You'll Do:

• Work closely with the General Counsel, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to shape and improve Ginger’s legal processes to enable both legal and business functions to scale effectively.
• Review, draft, and help negotiate a variety of commercial agreements including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and other software and vendor agreements.
• Collaborate with other internal and external legal resources to guide Ginger through complex regulatory issues.
• Respond to internal legal requests from our sales, operations, finance, product, and engineering departments in a clear and concise manner.
• Help develop and apply effective risk-management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues across all business functions.
• Anticipate, investigate, and evaluate different legal challenges that could impact Ginger.

Requirements:

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school or international equivalent. 
• At least 4 years’ of legal practice, with some experience at a law firm.
• At least 2 years’ experience advising clients/teams on legal issues related to commercial contracts.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and actively anticipating issues.
• Active listener with strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate nuanced concepts into concise and practical guidance
• Excellent business insight and personal integrity.
• Self-motivation and a willingness to take ownership of projects.
• A great sense of humor (and an even better sense of judgment).
• Humility and a desire to roll up your sleeves.

Preferred:

• Experience relating to health care and consumer internet issues that include privacy and security.
• In-house experience at a tech company in a regulated space.
• Demonstrated project management and/or operational skills.

Bonus:

• CIPP or privacy experience.
• M&A/Corporate experience.
• Experience managing others.
• Prior state regulatory experience.
