About The Team

We have an agile and dynamic legal team charged with facilitating the growth, maturity and international expansion of our SaaS business. The Office of the General Counsel at UserTesting is seeking an experienced, professional corporate and employment attorney to become an integral part of our team. The successful candidate will be able to resolve both routine and complex corporate and employment matters with minimal supervision, and work closely with our VP of Legal, Finance, HR and our business stakeholders to design and implement solutions that work for our business. 

 

Join the Team —– A Unique Opportunity

This attorney will report to the General Counsel and work cross functionally with our Human Resources and Finance teams with the management and handling of corporate law and employment related matters at UserTesting, domestically and internationally. This attorney will also assist with the development and implementation of corporate compliance programs that apply to employees worldwide.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Consult and advise internal clients on a variety of employment related matters, including issues related to compensation, leaves, discipline, and responding to internal EEO complaints.
  • Review and respond to employee demand letters.
  • Supervise and conduct internal complaints in order to respond to administrative charges.
  • Manage, supervise and assist outside counsel in handling litigation and arbitration and responding to a variety of employment issues arising nationally.
  • Partner with local counsel and outside counsel, as appropriate, for employment matters outside of the United States.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of corporate compliance programs, employee training and auditable procedures, and supporting the development of appropriate internal controls.
  • Analyze and negotiate contracts (business, customer, research, payer, software license etc.).


The candidate should have the ability to prioritize and work independently and must have strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate should have experience:

 

  •     Providing in-house legal counsel on labor and employment related matters, which may include, but is not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour law, workers’ compensation, unemployment and other state agency claims, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements and policy related issues, FMLA matters, employment related litigation, grievances and arbitrations.
  •     Reviewing, analyzing, negotiating and drafting employment contracts, termination agreements, settlement agreements, employment releases, and other labor and employment contracts and related documentation.
  •     Ensuring compliance with all applicable employment and corporate laws, regulations and policies.
  •     Participating in and influencing the decision-making process with appropriate clients and stakeholders.
  •     Identifying and assessing legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and advising accordingly.
  •     Independently handling legal matters and projects ranging from basic to complex.
  •     Supervising, managing and evaluating outside counsel on employment related matters including litigation.
  •     Educating clients and stakeholders on legal matters, policies and procedures.
  •     Establishing and maintaining relationships, credibility and trust with clients, legal team members and other colleagues.


 

What We’re Looking for

  • 4-7 years of experience, with at least two years of in-house experience, preferably in a technology company
  • Must have a law degree and be admitted to at least one state bar (California bar a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Willingness to take ownership for a project and drive it to completion
  • Public and private technology co experience preferred
