As a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer on the Embeddings team at Liftoff, you will:

  • Take end-to-end ownership of ML models that operate at scale and directly impact the business, including building state-of-the-art ML models, deploying them in production, and working with related engineering systems.

  • Adopt or build new technologies for training and serving ML models, e.g. support new models, improve scalability, increase developer velocity.

  • Be a mentoring coach for team members and engineers from other teams.

  • Monitor the latest ML research for functional ideas that the team could try.

  • Influence the roadmap for your team and potentially other teams.

Requirements 

  • 12+ years of industry experience applying Machine Learning.

  • Hands on experience with deep neural networks in production at scale.

  • Solid engineering and coding skills.

  • Experience with the following: PyTorch, PySpark.

  • B.S. or higher in Machine Learning, Math, Physics or similar. PhD a plus.

  • Ability to work individually on software projects.

  • Track record of proficient execution and timely delivery of projects.

  • Sets ego aside in pursuit of finding the best solution, no matter where it comes from.

  • Experience with Transformers and Two-Tower models a plus.

  • Experience in Ad Tech or Recommender Systems is a solid plus

Location:

This role eligible for full-time remote work in one of our entities: CA, CO, ID, IL, FL, GA, MA, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NV, OR, RI, TX, UT, and WA. We are a remote-first company with US hubs in Redwood City, Los Angeles, and NYC.

Compensation: 

Liftoff offers all employees a full compensation package that includes equity and health/vision/dental benefits associated with your country of residence. Base compensation will vary based on candidate location and experience. The following are our base salary ranges for this role: 

SF Bay Area, NYC, Los Angeles/Orange County: $230,000 - $315,000
Seattle/Olympia, Austin, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Boston: $210,000 - $290,000
All other cities and towns in our approved states: $195,000 - $275,000

Liftoff's Compensation Strategy

Liftoff's compensation strategy includes competitive market rate along with equity and benefits and perks that will give our employees what they need to do their best work. In order to ensure teams are compensated fairly for the work performed, we map out specific levels and take into consideration the cost of labor within each location. Liftoff provides employees a total compensation package of competitive market salaries, equity, health and wellness stipends, medical benefits associated with your country of residence. The base compensation will vary based on location, experience as well as level.
