The Communications Team at Nextdoor is tasked with building and executing a world-class communications strategy to elevate the power of Nextdoor, while supporting the company’s rapid global growth and adoption. Our team’s mission is to help neighbors around the world understand how Nextdoor can help build deeper real-world connections, stay in the know, and help each other in their daily lives.

The Impact You’ll Make

The Nextdoor Communications team is looking for an organized, driven, collaborative Communications Coordinator to bring the power of the neighbor to life through the media and Nextdoor social channels.

Key areas of focus include sourcing member stories showcasing the amazing ways neighbors are turning to Nextdoor to drive positive change in their neighborhoods, researching proactive media opportunities, drafting articles for the Nextdoor blog, and event planning. A large part of this role will also be to provide administrative support across the Communications team.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Connect with Nextdoor members to learn about their experiences on Nextdoor
  • Plan events such as neighborhood gatherings; start-to-finish coordination and onsite support if needed
  • Assist with communications team’s daily administrative tasks, including coverage tracking, reporting, scheduling, expenses, and invoicing
  • Assist with content and speaker coordination for Nextdoor’s weekly company-wide meeting and Speaker Series
  • Flag coverage, track and save all media mentions of Nextdoor, providing metrics around article sentiment and categories of Nextdoor mentions
  • Participate in major product launches and announcements
  • Research proactive media opportunities for Nextdoor; compile media lists and pitch reporters covering a variety of beats
  • Develop written materials, including company briefing docs, press releases, blog posts, FAQs, and other collateral.

We’re looking for someone who has strong verbal and written communication skills and is passionate about communications and public relations. This candidate should be detail-oriented, comfortable multitasking, and thrive in a busy, high paced environment. What You’ll Bring to The House

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years public relations experience in-house or at a PR agency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Social media proficient 
  • Ability to multitask and work well with team members in a fast-paced environment 
  • Deep interest in national/local news, trends, community, and social media
  • Passion for Nextdoor’s product, purpose, and mission
  • Basic design and video editing skills a plus!
